Nicki Minaj is officially going pop. The hip-hop diva has been tapped as the face of a multi-million dollar campaign for Pepsi’s new beverage “Pop.”
According to Forbes, the seven-figure deal includes a commercial, which she recently shot in Argentina. It will launch later this spring, while footage from the shoot leaked online last month.
“You’ll see the commercial probably in the next two months,” said Derek Jackson of Glu, the agency that brokered the deal. “That’ll be a segue into a new beverage Pepsi has, called ‘Pop,’ and she’ll be the face of the brand… It’s going to be explosive.”
Terms of Nicki’s deal weren’t publicly disclosed, but Forbes reports that it was worth millions. Her Young Money boss Lil Wayne scored a similar endorsement with Pepsi’s sister brand Mountain Dew to star in its DEWeezy campaign, which includes an original filmed funded by Pepsi and Mountain Dew.
