Rap-Up.com || Nicki Minaj Goes Hard in the Paint in ‘Roman Reloaded’ Packaging Shoot

With just hours to go before her sophomore album is released around the world, Nicki Minaj makes a splash in the packaging shoot for the deluxe edition of Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. The busty blonde strips down into a skin-colored bra and panties, rolling around in the paint in the colorful images.

The New York Times praised the “female Weezy” in Sunday’s paper, crediting her for paving the way for a new generation of female rappers.

“When she releases her second album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, this week, it will be as the most influential female rapper of all time,” wrote Jon Caramanica. “A few years ago, before her rise began, there were hardly any female rappers of note; now, a new generation, including Azealia Banks, Brianna Perry, and Angel Haze, is rising quickly, working territory that she carved out.”

Nicki has a busy week ahead promoting the album, with performances on “106 & Park” on Monday and the “Today” show on Friday. She will also host in-store signings in New York (4/3), Philadelphia (4/4), and Los Angeles (4/7).

I like the concept & the colors, but it was kind of poorly executed. But let me touch on how full of Shiiii. the NY Time is for that 3 page article. I give her her rightful props, but to call her Hip Hops Leader?????? Is much! She DEFINITLEY. Brought females back to the scene & she HAS accomplished alot but 75% of that article was BS. Have they heard her album? I’m not hating… I like about 4-5 songs but that was NOT a ground breaking album. It was mostly fun & pop but not ground breaking for HipHop. Kanye West puts out shiiii that’s ground breaking in hip hop. Her being featured with Madonna IS ground breaking but NOT her album. Her last one was better IMO.

I agree with Shakur. I love the artwork and the promo shoots, and all, it actually shows a vibe we’ve never seen from her, or Lil Kim or any female rapper so far, throughout, PF:RR tops Pink Friday, hands down, not because it has a lot of songs, but it’s because it’s more diverse, and it shows many sides of her. Such as, her singing style, her crazy and mental side, her Queens side, her “party-girl” side and sexy side. I really don’t care what the Nicki haters say about the album or the artwork, I’ll say that the artwork for Pink Friday was on point, but at least you don’t have to look at long ass legs and big ass shoes for the sequel.

If this album does not make it to #1 in the Billboards, I’m blaming all of the haters for it, because I know that they’re gonna be mad that this will be the best album of 2012, and no other singer can top it. #JUSTSAYING

It’s not as if “other” rappers can’t go Pop and do different types of music, they choose not to because they have an identity. I mean Usher decided to do what he had to do to feed his two children and pay alimony but Usher is still R&B. He does Pop for money not because of an identity crisis. Usher shows that anybody can jump the fence.
