Iggy Azalea Explains Why Her Album Is ‘Classic’

Iggy Azalea

Iggy Azalea has a lot to live up to with the title of her debut The New Classic. During her appearance on “MTV’s Hip Hop POV,” the Australian femcee faced criticism from the hosts, but defended the bold choice.

“I think people think of classic and they think of a Nas record or a Jay-Z record or The Chronic,” said the “Murda Bizness” rapper.

“What makes something classic is when you hear it and you have that moment that is a time capsule. When I say The New Classic, I just want to make records that give you that moment for fans that they can remember where they were when they heard it.”

Hear what else Iggy has to say when the full interview airs tonight at midnight on MTV.

She does have a lot to live up to if she names her album “The New Classic.” People are going to rip her apart if it falls short of that!!! Good luck to her though.

Someone ask T.I why he never put Xtaci on after she been signed with Grand Hustle for a long time. Iggy is all image. She brings nothing new, sorry.

    @Mike, Xtaci’s a DUO (Sunshine & Bola).

Other than that, I’m with ya here…why didn’t he give ‘em so much as a PROMO single?

This chik has been really feeling herself lately. She acts like she is MVP of the rap game or something the way she be talking. TI made me sick with this move but whatever.

rofl, there’s only a few artists that could possibly create classic music in this day and age and she’s definitely not one of them, music is so wack now, no way in hell she has a “classic” album… hoe

This Girl is trash, crap as hell, without T.I.’s support nobody would sign this crapgirl

    [Reply]

    From Tokyo Reply:

@Replay, There are a lot of “crapgirl”s in the mainstream right now. One more doesn’t matter. Getting scared this crapgirl might make big waves?

    [Reply]

    Treyy Reply:

@Replay, You must no have heard but Jimmy Iovine signed her to Interscope BEFORE she signed with T.I. and she was also super close to signing with Def Jam. Know what you’re talking about before you seak. Thanks.

some artists used to saying that their upcoming albums will be classic. I dont like it cos I often see that they dont keep their promises.
If yall want a real support u previously must do ur thing and then only listeners will decide that is ur shit a classic or just a shit. I`m done.

This is our Runaway Slave Master. Didn’t watch the video. Did she address A. banks’ comments based on that Magazine cover. Did she speak about Eve’s comment? If they didn’t ask and she didn’t mention well then they are all phony as hell.

    [Reply]

    From Tokyo Reply:

@Qs, She addressed both of them already in the past, as well as the slave master comment. She actually addressed each situation intelligently already, and you know good and well that if they talked about that again then people would complain that they “keep bringing it up”.

I’m not a fan, but fair is fair. The reason why I comment on this chick’s hate is because there’s some people crapping on the mainstream right now, so why even bother to get mad if another person steps up? There’s been a lot of racism against her, and some people act like it can’t go both ways. If it’s not cute for her to get too comfortable and make a play on words like she did then it’s not cute for people to be racist either. It’s not either way, anyway.

One more thing…did she perform. Last week 2 Chains was interviewed and performed. If she didn’t then it’s all fake. Rapping is talking. Your voice doesn’t change. Explain to me how her speaking voice and her rapping voice are totally different.
