From the projects to platinum albums, Nas shared how he became one of hip-hop’s most revered MCs on VH1’s “Behind the Music.” The 38-year-old rapper, born Nasir Jones, opened up about his personal and professional life including his highly-publicized beef with Jay-Z, political controversy, divorce from Kelis, and the birth of his son Knight, with commentary from hip-hop luminaries including Common, Russell Simmons, and Q-Tip.
“Nas is always the benchmark for everybody,” said Q-Tip. “He’s your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper.”

the show wasn’t that interesting but i was enlightened a bit. u can tell when they mentioned his marriage to kelis, things were left out (totally understood). however, he had a classic entrance to the rap game. it’s like the streets and the old school rappers were routing for him to win.
