Rap-Up.com || Nicki Minaj Contemplates Leaving the Game

Not only did Nicki Minaj abandon Twitter, but could she be leaving the rap game next? In a new interview with Tim Westwood, the hip-hop diva dropped a bombshell on her Barbz.

The BBC Radio 1Xtra host praised the Young Money rapper for delivering street records such as “Beez in the Trap” and “HOV Lane” on her No. 1 album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, and even compared it to a mixtape. “It’s what us Barbz needed,” he told her during her trip to the U.K.

However, Nicki seems to be unsatisfied with the response to the album. “People aren’t even giving the kid props for taking it back to that essence,” she said in one of her many accents. “This is my fourth mixtape, really. The kid did like that to feed her fans. But really now, the kid thinking maybe she should leave the game.”

While she loves her Barbz, she’s tired of her detractors. “All these other folk finna make the kid leave the game.”

Despite pleading from fans to return to Twitter, she has no current plans to reunite with her 11 million followers. “I miss my Barbz. But I can’t come back. I just can’t, Tim. Don’t make me. Please don’t.”

I seriously doubt that Nicki Minaj is going to retire from music anytime soon. Nicki Minaj has gotten too many endorsements over the last 2 years for her to leave now; but it wouldn’t shock me, if Nicki Minaj decides to retire from music for real. Nicki Minaj probably wants to make a whole lot more money before she calls a quit. I think Nicki Minaj is very upset that Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded got bad reviews from music critics, and didn’t sell as much as Pink Friday did in its first week out.

Nicki Minaj seems to be upset to the point where she thinks her detractors and critics are hating her too much. I don’t think critics hate on Nicki just to hate on Nicki for no reason. I think critics hate the music that Nicki Minaj puts out. I don’t hate Nicki Minaj as a person, because I don’t know Nicki Minaj as a person, but I think her music is very garbage. I always thought Nicki Minaj had the potential to be a great rapper, but I feel that Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded was a step in the wrong direction.

If Nicki Minaj continues to put out music that music fans continues to hate in the near future, she is not going to last too long in the music industry. Nicki Minaj need to go back to the drawing board and reinvent herself in a postive way, otherwise, her music career may not last long.

I said that to say, although Nik said she’s thinking about leaving the game in a joking way, I BET the criticism has finally penetrated her heart. I’m actually glad to see that it did. Not taking away from the fact that she def has the skills to be crowned as one of the BEST female rappers ever. My gripe with Nik is that she did too much waaaay too soon. Also, Wayne’em gave her too much room as a new artist. These celebs are human just like us. They have dreams and desires that need coaching just like the regular people. I don’t know if you all remember but Waka Flocka’s mom did an interview ( way back and I read it on Necolebitchie’s site ) sharing how Nik always enjoyed singing more than rapping. Here’s were a great team, constructive criticism and coaching comes in…. Nik, hands down you have a natural ability to slay these chicks in rapping. You, however, don’t have the vocal ability nor the stage presence to become a singing pop act. Oddly, I think her stage performance can be developed but the singing…not so much. That’s where Wayne and Baby should have talked to her nicely and said… nah baby, your pop songs have a good sound but you are not operating in you pocket. It’s one thing to record but it’s another to perform those songs. In my opinion, Nik still needs artist development/coaching and should use what God gave her. She was and is one of the key factors that can make Hip-Hop, in its purest form, finally become a mainstream genre. And if she wants to tap into pop music, keep it rap. I would support her being the female version of Florida before she tries to become Rihanna’s competition. Again, my nature as a person is to encourage others to chase their dreams but I’m also real. Singing is not her lane… just not. Maybe a few hooks but leave it to the singers and embrace your thrown as the QUEEN of rap. It’s effortless Nik, like EFFORTLESS when you spit. Seriously….

Some of her music is great. I’m not a fan nor a hater but she is attention seeking. She’s weak and she let most of her fans down. Look at most of these artists like Rihanna, She gets hatred everywhere but that doesnt stop her. Michael Jackson had loads of people on his case and that didnt stop him. Soulja boy is shit and some people might agree but he’s still doing what his doing and his doing it for his FANS. If i were a fan i would be pissed off! She is a waste. I actually like the album i thinks she giving up on it too fast is’s not better than PF tho because PF was more complete she should’ve did a double disc…you cant please them all but if you cant take the heat get out of the kitchen period she sounds very selfish and ungrateful with that statement. I just can’t… I bought the album and I’d give it 4 out of 5 stars. I could’ve done without all the pop stuff, but “Come on a Cone” was more than enough to make up for it. I wouldn’t consider myself a Barb or a Ken but I do applaud good work ethic and dedication which is why I eff with Nicki. BUT, what I need her to do is get some humility. She needs to understand that there are people trying to KILL for her spot and God has blessed her TEN TIMES OVER. I understand you a star and all that, but don’t forget it wasn’t always like this and it WON’T ALWAYS BE LIKE THIS. Be GRATEFUL!

She needs to go if she can’t handle the criticism, she’s obviously not built for this game. Any public figure is going to receive praise and criticism, you just deal with it and keep it moving. She doesn’t represent Hip Hop at all if she’s going to let criticism get the best of her. Hip Hop is for strong people, not the weak ones like Nicki. She won’t be missed, so time for her to go.
