Chris Brown Pushes ‘Fortune’ to July

Chris Brown

Chris Brown fans will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on his new album. The R&B superstar has postponed its release from May to July.

Brown’s fifth album, Fortune, will now arrive on July 3, he announced on Twitter. It was previously scheduled for a May 8 release.

“Team Breezy! The official album date for FORTUNE is July 3,2012!!!!!!!!!!!!” tweeted Chris.

The follow-up to last year’s F.A.M.E. has spawned the singles “Turn Up the Music,” Polow Da Don-produced “Sweet Love,” and “Till I Die” featuring Big Sean and Wiz Khalifa.

Chris is also working with Tyga on Fan of a Fan 2, the sequel to their 2010 collaborative mixtape.

@TrinaRunsFemaleRap, @TrinaRunsFemaleRap, I hate Nicki Minaj, but her album didn’t flop at all. 200,000+ is actually really good sales now. very few artist sell tht much

@Miles, rihanna and katy perry didn’t even sell 250k in their first week. katy is double platinum and rihanna, well she’s RIHANNA. #superstar

@TrinaRunsFemaleRap, Flop? People would give anything to sell 200k. That’s far from a flop especially considering how much people are selling now.

Chris is putting out tooooo much music. He’s oversaturated. He needs to make em starve for his voice. If you keep putting out dumb ass mix tapes every other month, shit that free agents do, then you’re going to have to push back you album again. Who is handling this kid?

@The Real B[randy], But if he holds back he wont be ‘out there’. Everything he has done since the Rihanna incident has been to get back into people’s graces. He has done really well but if he were to take a break people would quickly remove his relevance even though he is a great musician.

Even though I was hoping to get my hands on it next month, I think this is best. It doesn’t even feel like he has an album coming out imo. I hope Sweet Love blows up, that was the first single from the album that I love.

As a fan, i’m sad because i was looking forward to bumping to that album in three weeks.
However, i think this may be the best for ‘Fortune’ as there are some really good promo events like awards shows around that time. so its a smart business move.
I need this album to go no.1 with big first week sales.

he needs to hook up with old producers like superproducer Scott Storch, all his beats are wack pop beats, scott needs to get off the coke too before he pulls a whitney

I think Chris should let the rapping go for awhile. “F.A.M.E.” was a good album, but I think he should start doing R&B/Pop songs like “Kiss Kiss,” “With You” and “Run It!” again. It would be a very successful song for him. LAMN was a hit, but he was rapping on that track. Chris, I hope this album is hot and worth the wait.

  24. Lisa

He needs to get back to basics. The last album and only album I liked from him from beginning to end was Exclusive. His R&B material is always top notch, it’s the pop material that stinks. He had a great thing going with the urban pop thing like Usher and Justin Timberlake. The straight up pop stuff is bad. He uses the same formula for those pop songs since “Forever” and it’s wearing thin. He also needs to stop rapping, he’s not good.

It’s for the best. And for the hoes saying its gonna flop and he’s not good anymore, can leave because his first single off this album gave him his first no.1 hit in the UK and what, 10th number 10 to hit the charts? OH! And he happens to be the 3rd R&B artist since 1990s to have 24 singles slay. Clap back. Worth the wait.

    [Reply]

  32. Hmmmm

Worth the wait! Turn up the music and sweet love is everything. Til I die is still growing on me. I like how he doesn’t box his music.

Yall really need Jesus…regardless of what yall think, whenever the album comes out, its going to sell, how many copies don’t know…but if you are not a fan, don’t worry about it, as much as you hate on the guy, you probably couldn’t afford to buy it…we all know haters sit on their lazy asses and hate all day, every day!
