Rap-Up.com || Rihanna, Jay-Z to Perform at London Olympics Festival

The Olympics are getting down with the Roc. Rihanna and Jay-Z will help provide the soundtrack to the London 2012 Olympic Games this summer.

The Roc Nation superstars will headline BBC Radio 1 Hackney Weekend 2012, taking place a month before the Games on June 23 and 24, said organizers of the Olympics cultural festival.

“There will be absolutely something for everyone: from Beethoven to Jay-Z, from Shakespeare to Mike Leigh,” Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt said at the news conference in the Tower of London.

The event is expected to attract around 100,000 fans with performances from Florence + the Machine, Jack White, David Guetta, Tinie Tempah, and more.

@HEY RAP-UP, I am looking for rihanna ! I’d rather have Rihanna than beyonce. Don’t take it the wrong way, I love beyonce and she’s an amazing performer. But I think she is quiet boring, and Rihanna is such a better entertainer. She is the perfect choice for this kind of event especially in the UK where she is huge. And she doesn’t need to be sexual, she can definitly tone it down when needed, just look at her performance of “We found love” at the TIME100 Gala.

@pierre, You lost when you said better entertainer… Girl bye Rihanna is Good but Beyonce is GREAT. Every performance Beyonce do is on point plus Beyonce DANCE during hers and sound Great, Rihanna on the other hand just jump around and make think something is wrong with her. i found it funny for some one who do DANCE Music you cant dance worth SH*t but the point is i will be checking it out not for Rihanna but for Jay z

This seems like an unusual choice just because of the content of most of Rihanna’s music, but good for her. I wouldn’t consider her a great entertainer, but if she incorporates some more dancing like we’ve been seeing with WHYB, she should be good.

WHO CARES neither of them are british, wtf can’t we stick with home grown talent. We have adele, tinie tempah, rita ora, jessie j. Family friendly groups like one direction, the wanted etc WTF why the hell are we asking americans to perform.

WTF just get coldplay to perform and be done with this shit.
