Video: Nelly Furtado – ‘Big Hoops (Bigger the Better)’

Nelly Furtado

Time release the fresh. Nelly Furtado makes a BIG comeback in the video for “Big Hoops (Bigger the Better),” the first single off her fifth album The Spirit Indestructible. The Canadian songstress towers above the city on stilts in the X-directed clip, which features world champion Native American hoop dancer Tony Duncan.

Due June 19, the follow-up to 2006’s multi-platinum Loose includes contributions from Nas, Salaam Remi, and Tiesto, plus an 18-track deluxe edition with appearances from Passion Pit’s Mike Angelakos and the Kenyan Boys Choir.

Nelly will perform the Rodney Jerkins-produced song at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas on May 20. She also unveiled the tracklisting for the album, which can be seen below.

@RYK101, THANK YOU! Maybe it’s not autotuned, profanity-filled or sexualized enough…you know how people think nowadays

I want her to make another album produced by Timbaland. They made great music together.

@2XCL, I agree 100% percent. I was hoping more in the vein of that sound, honestly.

@2XCL, According to a few articles she did write another 20 songs with Timbo in 2009…too bad she ditched him.

This video should definately get this song in the top 10 on Billboard hands down. If i didnt know Rodney jerkins produced this i would have thought it was Timbaland.

@Live It Up, Timbo can produce better songs than this let down track.

@Live It Up, I agree with you. It sounds somewhat like something Timbaland would produce as well.

there is nothing that sounds like this song. nelly is always innovating while everyone else follows trends. it’s a very risky move for nelly to not follow trends….but i think the risk is worthwhile. now we know a studio doesnt control her!

I have a feeling this might sound like an album that Timbaland produced but just with different producers and made for 2012 and not 2006 like “Loose” was. Her music always sounds fresh. I’m excited to cop this!

    DOES ANYBODY SEE ILLUMINATI? NOBODY.

yes very illuminati with the triangle singn from her hands like 4 times in th video. Is that supposed t bring success ?

I think the people that keep screaming illuminati every time they see something that is a little left or some imagery that looks a little different…are the ones that are actually promoting illuminati. Litterally NO ONE else talks about it or cares. It’s just so old now. People have been making shapes with their hands since they first roamed the earth. And red & black happen to be favorite colors for many people. I don’t like them, but they are bold. Perhaps, she should’ve just kept her hand in the prayer position & wore a white choir robe ascending to the havens on a cloud & been kissed by God himself for the video. It would be blasphemy then I guess.

How to deny what is obvious…

@ok ok, Actually, I didn’t deny anything. Many of the people that keep claiming this don’t even actually know what it is (or isn’t for that matter). I don’t know everything about it, but I DO know it’s as annoying as someone commenting “First”. The funny thing about it is, if she was ACTUALLY doing what she is being accused of…the single would be sitting somewhere else on the charts.

I love Nelly Furtado ! One unique artist who has definitely remained herself and yes this song should be killing the charts honestly.

I mean I love the song. The video seems to not really making a relevant statement as a whole. It’s just like ok, “yeah… I getcha, I getcha, wait… what?” & I hate to scream illuminati, but she was throwing up that pyramid sign a lot & it has no relevance to the song or parts of the video at all.

Love this track. Not sure whether this will be a crossover track for her. However, i really hope the rest of the album is this quality and better. I buy albums on whether its amazing music not whether its “HOT” by mainstream standards.

well.. I wish I knew what she was talking about, lol ,but yea I always liked nelly; she always reinvents herself instead of having one sound, you know? It’s different, fresh, aomething you wouldn’t expect, so yea I like it and Imma watch her on bilboard.

This is the stupidest video Iv’e ever seen in my entire life. She can’t sing or dance. She shouldn’t perform at the Billboard Music Awards. She sucks. Her performance will be a waste of time. The song shouldn’t even be called the bigger the better because it’s not better it’s worse.
