Rap-Up.com || Ciara Previews ‘One Woman Army’ at New York Listening

Ciara is back in full force. After premiering her new single “Sweat” featuring 2 Chainz and promoting the comedy That’s My Boy, the R&B princess jetted to New York to host a listening party for her new album One Woman Army on Wednesday night. Celebrities and tastemakers packed the room as she played tracks off her first album since 2010’s Basic Instinct.

Her Epic Records boss L.A. Reid and music mogul Jermaine Dupri toasted her with champagne, while guests including pal La La, producer Tricky Stewart, and “X Factor” alum Marcus Canty snacked on cupcakes.

The album, due in October, received rave reviews from attendees. Among the records heard was a “summer banger” with Rick Ross and a ballad called “Sorry.” DJ SNS also reported hearing a collaboration with Nicki Minaj.

“Hardest @ciara record I’ve heard. She’s reconstructing the lanes. So future,” wrote Patrik Sandberg of V magazine. “This album is ridiculous. It’s coming for EVERYTHING!”

@ewgew UM actually sweetheart, critics were invited as well, so that’s not true. Her last listening party didn’t receive this reaction, because Basic Instinct was not as good. So STAY MAD!!!

There wasn’t one bad review from anybody that attended the party. Somebody did say “Sweat” was the worst out of all the songs played, but that’s really saying something. If “Sweat” is the worst, then One Woman Army will be nothing short of amazing. Can’t wait to hear the Rick Ross collabo as well!

….And they will push two singles after Sweat, so October is perfect.

@GDG, If you were smart you would know that not rushing the album out is smart. Thats good promotion because if they were just to drop one single and push the album out that would be as if they didnt even care. October is the perfect month. Sweat will run big throughout the summer then she will drop a summer banger then a single before her album comes out. They have the correct set up.

NICE!!!! My advice to her and her team this time around: DON’T RUSH A DAMN THING. Let the songs run their course and take things step by step. The problem I had with “Fantasy Ride” and “Basic Instinct” were that things took off a little quick in the beginning and a release date was set, but then things would staul and the date(s) would start getting pushed back. Then more songs were released in hopes for a #1 hit and obviously that NEVER HAPPENED. Just do your thing Ciara and keep us excited! I can’t wait for the new album!

What attendees bash at a listening party? Her album is complete, even if no one enjoyed her music, she’s not going to start over again. I still believe October is wrong. Lady Gaga, Mary J.
