« Video: Sean Kingston f/ T.I. – ‘Back 2 Life’50 Cent to Oprah: I Paint My Grandmother’s Toenails »Frank Ocean Preps ‘Channel Orange’ Album for July![]() Frank Ocean has remained quiet about his new music. But in the middle of the night, the Odd Future crooner surprised his fans with a viral video revealing what could be the title and release date of his highly-anticipated album.
In the mysterious teaser, directed by Nabil (“Mercy”), a BMW station wagon sits parked in front of a house at night. Ocean can be heard singing a new song with the lyrics, “She’s working up the pyramid tonight,” as an orange cloud passes through and the words “Channel Orange” and “7.17.12” appear on screen. While all signs point to a new album, it’s currently unconfirmed if Channel Orange and July 17 represent the title and release date of his Def Jam debut or simply a new single. In 2011, the reclusive singer released his acclaimed album Nostalgia, Ultra, which spawned the singles “Novacane” and “Swim Good.” The ballad “Thinkin Bout You” was released to iTunes in April. “It succinctly defines me as an artist for where I am right now and that was the aim, just to make something that represents where you are at that time,” Ocean told BBC of his upcoming work. “It’s about the stories. If I write 14 stories that I love, then the next step is to get the environment of music around it to best envelop the story and all kinds of sonic goodness.” UPDATE: Def Jam has confirmed that Channel Orange is indeed the title of Ocean’s new album, available July 17. @qwwq,
I agree. I think, it might be an EP bc it doesnt sound like a single title, either.

@qwwq, You don’t listen to Odd Future than obviously. They announce everything like months, or weeks before release lol. They don’t give a f*** about how much they sell. Plus Frank Ocean is dual signed between Odd Future Records and Def Jam.

It could be a single, but I doubt it’s the album. That’s only a little over a month away.

People who are saying it is a single don’t know OFWGKTA. They announce all of there albums and mixtapes about a month before release. simply because they don’t care about sales. EP is possible. But it deffinately note a single

I’m sorry but this is a total ripp off of Usher’s electro soul like on climax. I miss the old frank ocean, before this whole fame thing.

@honesty, What r u talking about you miss the old frank ocean? Frank’s style hasnt changed at all. You make it sound as if he is in front of the cameras all the time. This guy is one of the most reclusive people in the industry. And on another tip, who give two fucks about Usher anymore? The dude is a pop star now.

@tyler, Usher’s climax is #1 on the R&B/HIP HOP CHARTS SINCE 8 WEEKS. NO WONDER FRANK IS JUMPING ON THE ELECTRO SOUL TREND LAUNCHED BY USHER. I wish he would give us songs like swim good, not a cheap Usher ripp off
