Usher unleashed his inner rock star during his appearance on BBC Radio 1Xtra’s “Live Lounge.” With a guitar in hand, the R&B crooner and his band performed a rockin’ cover of Foster the People’s Top 40 hit “Pumped Up Kicks.”
According to HITS Daily Double, Usher’s new album Looking 4 Myself is expected to debut at No. 1 on next week’s charts with around 120-130,000 copies. His previous album, Raymond v. Raymond, sold 329,000 in its first week.
The band ripped it apart!!! Usher didn’t bring anything. I’m not hating on him but seriously.. what did he bring to the song??? no energy, can’t hear his guitar playing (just for show), flat all the time. Props to the band that’s it.
@Jordan Gabriel, does he need to jump up and down the stage, for this performance to be considered energetic? He definitely had energy and vocally it was aight.
@Mentamir, it’s not about jumping up and down, it’s about conveying some emotion. All the emotion I got, personally, was ”shit I have to remember the chords on this guitar and the words of this song”. you can’t deny that the band was ON POINT, he wasn’t. When I think Usher I don’t just want ”aight vocals” I’m used to much more than that from him, maybe I’m too reminiscent. Usher has become an average singer. This was average.
this era USher’s been making all the right moves, like i am in love with him all over again though i wasn’t sure why he needed a guitar, his vocals were on point as usual, the band was live the back up vocalists were dope great performance!
So…the background singers gave me more life than he did. Lol. That one with the braids was gettin’ it!
Anywhore. It was a cute performance. I would’ve liked to hear him sing the chorus. I didn’t know he played guitar. I’d give the performance an A. I enjoyed it.
@ all: as if everyone will buy hard copy these days. me as a TRUE fan bought his album. people keep on complaining bout his record yet his so called fans cant even buy 1. smh. not until a radio freindly song with top the chart! so dont blame ursh if he sells 130k in its frst wk. the dude don’t need to prove somethin cuz he done a great job with this.
