Rap-Up.com || Cissy Houston and ‘Top Divas’ to Pay Tribute to Whitney Houston at BET Awards

The BET Awards will pay tribute to Whitney Houston with the woman who knew her best. Cissy Houston will honor her late daughter with a performance at next month’s show.

According to The Associated Press, the 78-year-old gospel singer will be joined by “a few top divas,” whose names were not disclosed.

Other previously announced performers include Nicki Minaj, Usher, Chris Brown, 2 Chainz, Big Sean, and other members of the G.O.O.D. Music family, who will come together onstage for their first live television performance.

The BET Awards ’12 will air live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on July 1 at 8 p.m. EST.

Um… Number one diva, most successful female artist, best voice in the industry, amazing songwriter, friend of whitneys, one time collaborators… If u aint guessed already… Mariah carey!!!

She needs to be there not only to honor a friend, but to show everyone how its done. Beyonce who? And the fact that that womans name ( minaj) was even mentioned is a joke. True artists on the night please, not just any name to get good ratings!

Now i just KNOW @MinajRules2012 did NOT just put Whitney and Nicki in the same “sentence”, yet alone the same “stage”. I usually don’t comment but this time I must speak my piece. Last year BET upset with the Patti LaBelle tribute, they cannot mess up Whitney’s! They need people who are going to do her justice. As some of you already said, real divas who can actually sing and aren’t into gimmicks. As @whitechocolate said, Brandy, Monica, Kim Burrell, and the Winans. I’m sure everyone will be flocking to honor Whitney but it must be done in true diva fashion. Ex – MONICA must sing “You Give Good Love” …that has become her signature Whitney tribute song & she kills it everytime!!!

Brandy & Monica should be a part of this tribute, but I have a feeling this “Whitney” tribute is going to turn into a “who’s who” type of “tribute”…just let people know who’s going to sing to promote themselves, sorry I mean, “honor Whitney” & call it a day…why the big “hush don’t tell nobody who’s singing” secrecy???…no matter who sings, NO ONE & I repeat NO ONE can sing a Whitney song better than Whitney did!!! #ripwhitney
