Beyoncé Shares Support for Frank Ocean

Frank Ocean

Several of Frank Ocean’s peers have voiced their support since he boldly revealed that his first love was a man—from his Odd Future groupmate Tyler, the Creator to Trina.

Now his collaborator Beyoncé has taken to her website to salute the “Novacane” singer for his brave announcement. In one of her “Bey Inspired” entries, the pop superstar shared words of encouragement over a black-and-white photo of the 24-year-old Ocean, who penned her ballad “I Miss You.”

Her sister Solange also showed her support. “I salute you, brave soul. Independence Day. @frank_ocean,” she wrote, while Rita Ora tweeted, “Once a brave soul opens up life doesn’t seem as hard as you thought it was. @frank_ocean inspirational.”

Tyler, the Creator, known for his controversial lyrics, stood by his friend’s side. “it was just funny cause i was getting bashed as a homophobe or whatever and i kept saying dude how am i one?” he said. “i have gay friends like what the f**k leave me alone haha. yeah thats my ni**a tho, shit is hard for him but he did that.”

Beyonce is my girl and all, but she’s GOT to know these wasps are out here criticizing her for everything, so I’m gonna need her to pull this and tack an “al” on the end of “INSPIRATION” before I have to come out of the hive.

Actually, BE INSPIRATION is correctly put meaning be a source for inspiration. Either way, it means the same thing.

@Henry, Henry, thank you ever so much for your wisdom. Clearly, this is true but I was merely expressing how quick people are to criticize her and claim she’s “uneducated.”

@Rachel, then that would be THEIR problem because she was using root words to express her thoughts on Frank coming out & making a very personal decision. Some of these a*sholes stay pressed about Beyonce but no matter what they write, say, or think they can’t change the fact that she is talented, adored & respected. She has the ideal life, being a successful woman w/ an adoring husband & beautiful child living her life. She was on maternity leave, they mad because she would be seen out so they can comment on her pregnancy. She comes out they saying she wasn’t pregnant or why is performing so soon after just having a child. I think she has finally learned that you can’t please everyone & truth be told with some people you just have to say “to hell with them”.

My 4 year old niece knows wikipedia IS NOT an accurant account of information. Besides, Ri (thanks to her deal w/ RocNation) is making B richer SO to translate Ri is B’s bitch! I love it! By the way, only an “artist” (I use that term very losely when it comes to Rihanna) releasing albums every year knows that their 15 minutes is nearly up. Like you said, his fans need to be supportive. Artist can say all the nice things in the world.. that still won’t sell his music. I’m not a huge fan but i will get his album. It takes a lot to do that especially when in the hip-hop culture, where men aren’t suppose to be gay.

It’s so brave to be honest about your real desires and how you feel. I applaud Frank. There’s nothing wrong with a man desiring masculine love; though he should receive it healthfully, in the context it was designed for him to receive it. I want Frank to go even further and be more honest. What is his relationship with his father like? I’ve never heard him mentioned, not even in the “thank yous.” What was it about his first love that made him “fall in love”? How does he define love? Interesting things to think about.

    [Reply]

    Candh Reply:

@Marsha Sea, Applaud him because he admitted to being another mans sidepiece? We never needed to know he likes men and women. No one asked nor did anyone care. Now he’s this brave hero for telling the world he likes d*** when this is all just a stunt for his album. PLEASE

I’m a fan of Ocean and all, love his work– but the odds of him ‘coming out’ JUST before his album does… c’mon. Plus, there’s noting ‘brave’ about this. Obviously, he’ll receive nothing but support, especially when celebrities are all for his ‘NO H8′ stuff.

I’ll tell you what brave is, coming out in a county like Africa. The spears WILL. BE. OUT!

@*_*, He was forced to come out before his album drops. People were supposed to find out while listening to his album. Also, it’s a good thing he did this before his career really blew up.

Someone answer me this. If being “gay” is “natural” and whatnot, then why aren’t there just all men or all women on this earth? Why are there men AND women?

    [Reply]

    Lisa Reply:

@Realistic, Men and women were created to reproduce. Being gay is natural, because people don’t choose to be heterosexual or homosexual. There’s no real evidence showing difference in the brain or body structure of gay and straight people. Gay is like a race, it’s something that can’t be controlled. There’s no defects in gay people either that can be traced to drugs or genetics like people born with disabilities. Asking a question like that is like people thinking certain races were naturally superior, because they were a certain color.

Answer this question, if gay people aren’t natural why have men and women created millions of gay people? Gay people certainly aren’t creating gay people. Gay people were created overtime just like races were. If only one man and one woman were created being of one race does that make all the other races we have now unnatural? Not at all. Gay naturally evolved just like races did. Overtime things change from how they were originally and then it becomes innate. It’s just like animals evolving from sea creatures to animals on land. That doesn’t make it unnatural though, because they naturally evolved.

Likewise, his Tumblr message merely says, “My first love was a man.” What if his second and subsequent loves have been women? He may be bisexual. Personally, I don’t care if the nigga is straight, gay, bi, trans or what. At the end of the day, I don’t have go to bed with him and he’s an entertainer. His personal life shouldn’t matter.
