Beanie Sigel Sentenced to 2 Years in Prison for Tax Charges![]() Beanie Sigel has been sentenced to two years behind bars for not paying $700,000 in federal income taxes.
The 38-year-old rapper, born Dwight Grant, had previously plead guilty to not filing federal tax returns in 2003, 2004, and 2005, reports TMZ. During his sentencing at U.S District Court in Philadelphia, Jay-Z’s former Roc-A-Fella Records signee told the judge he accepts “total responsibility” for his actions. However, he did complain about family members who allegedly spent his money while he was serving time for drug and gun crimes in 2004 and 2005. “I haven’t been able to get my career back on track since,” Sigel told the court. Sigel, whose albums include The Truth, The B. Coming, and The Reason, has until September 12 to report to prison. Damn I guess no “Brad & Mack” album. Would have been classic!!! On another note, if you go to jail for tax evasion, do you still have to pay the taxes? I mean you gettin’ jail time that should be enough. Not defending anybody but there are tons upon tons of CEOs of multimillion dollar companies that skirt taxes through accepted for value and other tricks what about them?

Jay-Z’s verse off Why I Love You-Watch The Throne Album
“I try to teach niggas how to be kings, and all they ever wanted to be was soldiers, so the love is gone, til blood is drawn, so we no longer wear the same uniform.
It’s sad to see that Beanie Sigel going to prison because he couldn’t pay his taxes. First, it was Wesley Snipes, then it was Lauryn Hill, now it’s Beanie Sigel. I can’t help but think that if Beanie Sigel would had stayed with Roc-A-Fella Records and stayed with Jay-Z instead of following Damon Dash after Roc-A-Fella Records broke up, then maybe Beanie Sigel could be where Kanye West is right now, at the top of hip hop as one of the best music artists. It’s amazing that Beanie Sigel, State Property, Damon Dash, Cam’ron and Diplomats are not as relevant as they used to be, while Jay-Z and Kanye West are still relevant right now. Maybe, if Beanie Sigel and Jay-Z didn’t have a falling out, maybe Jay-Z could had given some money to Beanie Sigel to take care of his legel situations, but then again Jay-Z works hard for his money, so he doesn’t have to pay Sigel anything at all, if he doesn’t want to. Memphis Bleek was also smart for not leaving Jay-Z as well. You have to be careful when it comes to giving your family money, otherwise, it could come back and hurt you big time.
