Rap-Up.com || Nicki Minaj and Drake Lead ‘Ice Age’ to Box Office Victory

It was a mammoth weekend at the box office as Ice Age: Continental Drift fended off Spider-Man and a talking Teddy Bear to debut at No. 1.

The fourth installment in the animated series, which stars Drake, Nicki Minaj, Jennifer Lopez, and Queen Latifah, pulled in $46 million, according to studio estimates. Its icy grip was enough to edge out The Amazing Spider-Man ($35 million) and Ted ($22.1 million).

The film was a bigger success overseas. Before the movie’s U.S. debut, it had already taken in $200 million in sales internationally, and raked in an additional $95.2 million from 64 foreign markets, bringing its total abroad to $339.2 million.

The “Starships” rapper plays a woolly mammoth named Steffie in the film, while her Young Money labelmate Drake voices Ethan, a mammoth who makes all the ladies swoon.

This movie was most likely going to be #1 regardless because it’s actually quite funny (as is Madagascar) and kids were going to worry the hell out of their parents to take them (just like they did Smurfs) lol … congrats to everyone involved, though.

Ice Age 2:The Meltdown opened with $68,033,544, the highest for a movie after Passions of the Christ for it’s year and also raked in $195,330,621 total in the US for a film in ’06. Ice Age 3:Dawn of the Dinosaurs opened with $13,791,157 in the US. So clearly people where checking for the other two movies. Research before you speak.

It did make more opening weekened for this one than the thrid one so I’m sure some of that is due to drake and nicki I know plenty of TEENS who would never go see this kiddy movie but went to see it cause nicki and drake was in it . And get some pills for these delusions you’re having. It doesn’t take a hater to realize that Nicki Minaj and Drake weren’t “responsible” for Ice Age 4′s success. They definitely contributed to it significantly with their large fanbase but seeing as how Nicki Minaj had like 2 lines and Drake did still only play a minor role, it’d be a joke to say that they were the root of this Ice Age’s success. I have nothing against Nicki Minaj or Drake so lay off if you take offense to this.
