« Lady Gaga Supports Kendrick Lamar at Pitchfork FestivalRihanna Sails Into Sardinia for Vacation »Soulja Boy Shows ‘Growth and Maturity’ on New Album![]() Soulja Boy was only 16 years when he topped the charts with his breakout hit “Crank That (Soulja Boy).” Five years later, he is showing a more mature side with his fourth studio album Promise.
The 21-year-old rapper has been in the studio with Game, Waka Flocka Flame, Busta Rhymes, DJ Khaled, and Detail recording the follow-up to 2010’s The DeAndre Way, due this winter. “This album is gonna sound like a whole new Soulja Boy,” he told DJ Skee. “Crazy beats, crazy lyrics. Growth and maturity in my music.” He also stars in the movie Officer Down and is working on a video game for PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720, as well as his own clothing line Blvd. Supply, which he will showcase at MAGIC in Las Vegas. But his ultimate goal still lies ahead. “I want to do an album that goes platinum in the first week,” he said. You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site. 40 CommentsLeave a Reply

Soulja Boy has a childish mentality when it comes to making music. He doesnt cater to older mature audiences just for the kiddies then when his album does bad he says hes going to show maturity and growth. Yeahhh this guy is a joke.

Out Of The 80 Mixtapes He’s Dropped, I’ve Only Liked One… 51/50… And That’s Only Because I Think The Beat To “Vintage” Is Dope As Fuck… But Ima Give Soulja Boy This One Last Chance To Take The Music Seriously. This Album Better Really Show Growth…

I’m sorry, but I don’t ever see Soulja Boy becoming a great mainstream rapper like Kanye West, Jay-Z, Drake, Eminem, or the other top rappers right now. There is something missing when it comes to Soulja Boy’s music. Soulja Boy is not a great rap lyricist, and he struggles to even rap his verses through his songs. Soulja Boy’s songs have no lyrical depth in his songs. It’s not that Soulja Boy don’t care about music, he is just not extremely talented. Soulja Boy is a much better producer than he is a rapper. Soulja Boy’s Pretty Boy Swag has a great beat, but the song as a whole is very terrible. I would be surprised, and I will admitt that I am wrong, if Soulja Boy turns out to be a great rapper in the future. Soulja Boy has been a commercial rapper for 5 years and he still makes the same songs. The only way I can see people buying a Soulja Boy album is if he gets every great rapper in the universe on his album, even then, I still don’t think his album will sell a lot of records.

Everyone starts out somewhere. Hey Kanye is a bitch made nigga Soulja Boy got more heart then him. Take notes commercial ass people turn out to be the best some don’t. People whose not turn out fucked up. He is young he had to draw attention to himself before he Fuck with the big dogs takes time. Y’all need to grow ask why yo ass just became his millionth hater.

From what I’ve seen from him in the past…I don’t see it happening. I’m a little apprehensive about listening to this new album but I’ll give him one more shot. If he steps up his lyricism then he’ll have my respect as an artist.
