J. Cole Debuts New ‘Chaining Day’ Verse![]() On Wednesday night, J. Cole made a surprise appearance at Mike Barber and DJ Spynfo’s Mic Check showcase in New York City. The Roc Nation rapper treated the crowd to a new verse from his song “Chaining Day.” Before reciting the lyrics, Cole explained, “I ain’t drop nothing in a while because I feel like we in this digital age where sh** moves so fast. Ni***s got songs every week, you can’t even keep up with this sh**.” He adds that that’s the reason he “had to take a step back” since releasing his debut album Cole World: The Sideline Story last September. Check out his new offering, which he wrote as a cautionary reminder to never become “that guy.”

@dodo, How did he fall off when Nobody’s Perfect is still in the Top 10 at Urban radio. He just needs to hurry up with another single from Cole World or start on his next album.

There’s a difference between falling off and taking a break, Cole’s case is the latter. Falling off is someone like Nelly who keeps trying to make hit singles, but they flop and his album poorly sales. J. Cole has merely retracted from the spotlight to prevent himself from becoming over-saturated like Chris Brown or Lil Wayne, to the point where people are sick of them

J Cole is very smart, it’s about quality not quantity. Leave that flooding the market and oversaturating the game with half ass music to Lil Wayne. Look at the Nas, Jay, Eminems, they don’t put out mixtapes or 3 million songs and still keep their fanbase.Just release quality music and let it speak for itself, lets those attention whoring artist play themselves.
