Rap-Up.com || First Look: Dawn Richard Shoots ‘Faith’ + ‘Wild N’ Young’ Video

Dawn Richard transformed into a warrior goddess while shooting the double video for “Faith” and “Wild N’ Young” in Los Angeles over the weekend.

“I am the goddess of faith sent to restore faith in my apparitions,” the former Dirty Money diva told Rap-Up.com, referring to the three warriors who appear alongside her in the video. “This carries the modern day Joan of Arc theme for Goldenheart. Each outfit carries a look of armor.”

The short film, directed by Eugene Lee Yang, serves as the segway into her Goldenheart album, due October 16.

Other looks included a spartan warrior and a geisha, for which Dawn donned white padded shoulders, long nails, and seven-inch heels covered in gold and silver snakes.

Rap-Up TV will have more from the set later this week.

Bombs remains her best video. Simple, quality and consistent with the theme of the song. It made sense. Something tells me she’ll miss the boat with these two like she did on with Automatic.

@Kylie, Opinion, I respect it. But I don’t think people get that Dance can tell story. “Automatic” literally told the story through dance. I mean you see how she was dancing robotic, hence “Automatic” & the purpose of the song. Her movements were telling the story, while she was performing it, with the words on the track of the music video.

The shoes are silly and so unnecessary. These OTT outfits did not work in Automatic why do it again?

Let Wild n Young be a tropical spiritual rave with dancers, dancing a rain dance for victory, in a forest and Faith a praise & worship to God and her dude set in New Orleans. If not. I’m over it.

You can’t give me dance in every video and no connection to the lyric.

@Gene, she was barely wearing anything in Automatic so I don’t think the clothing was over the top. The only thing that lacked in that video was the transformation from the “Stepford Wife” (which was filmed, but cut from the video for some reason – To my annoyance)to the android, to the final look. I felt like it could’ve been tied together better but she killed the choreo so I was satisfied. Other than that, I agree with your rainforest idea! That would be SO crazy.

Umm… I don’t know if I’m feeling the shoulder pads and all that extra ness but the shoes are hot. This is the thing I LOVE about Dawn. She does things that are over the top, but she has the talent to back it up so I’ll deal with it. Ashanti tried that mess with the video for “Woman You Love” and I couldn’t deal because… She lacks in some areas. Dawn can sing, she can dance, she has swag for days, weeks, months, YEARS. And she’s really ahead of her time. She’s bringing something new and innovative to the table for R&B and anything new for us (slaps back of hand) is a challenge to accept. Go head Dawn! But lose the red lip. It’s too much. lol
