New Music: Aaliyah f/ Drake – ‘Enough Said’![]() Drake’s love for Aaliyah is no secret. The Young Money rapper has shown his appreciation for the late singer with a tattoo and sampled her music on his debut Thank Me Later. Now he realizes a dream by collaborating with her on “Enough Said.” The understated record, produced by longtime Drake collaborator Noah “40” Shebib, features bars from Drizzy (“Selling under 150, you ni**as gotta be kidding”) complemented by Aaliyah’s haunting vocals. Drake will reportedly executive produce an upcoming posthumous album from Aaliyah. Expect him to perform the song live for the first time tonight at OVO Fest in Toronto.

@Shaytan, why do people always have to attack each other on here? For once, just shut up and listen. Yes, in parts of his verse he talks about Chris Brown, but that is not all his verse is about. It is about multiple things that bother him, but he feels like by voicing his frustrations, the situation will not change, so he bottles it up. Aaliyah repeatedly lets her love interest know that she wants him to speak his mind and share his thoughts with her. You have to read between the lines.

But this song is the first real love, R&B song that I have heard in a while … Aaliyah voice is beautiful

@Mentamir, THANK-YOU!!!! I totally agree. He’s playing the role of her lover, and he’s expressing himself after she showed her concern. And so what if there was some “beef” in it. Hell, no names were mentioned; therefore, saying that he disrespected Aaliyah by adding that in his lyrics is just unnecessary drama. It’s a NEW Aaliyah song. Be happy! Damn!

@Mentamir, kudos to drake for bringing this beautiful song out and i usually like his music but I personally prefer the version without him. two thirds of his rapping had nothing to do with the rest of the love song, he’s all ranting about this ghetto life, rivalry etc etc…da fuq? take that ghetto talk elsewhere, Aaliyah’s music was never about shet like that.

@j, I figure they were going to release her unfinished and unreleased stuff sooner or later. I know Drake is a huge fan of Aaliyah and I know he put in a lot of work to get the chance to do this song but I think as a fan, he should’ve let the people who actually knew here like Tim and Missy do this album since they knew her musical style and helped develop it. They’d know best how she would’ve wanted the album. But it is a good song to me though.

@Beyoncé:The Seat Giver, your wrong aaliyah wanted timbaland and missy to work on her last album. But their schedules didn’t line up cause aaliyah was super busy shooting queen of the damn and starting the matrix. Missy just released an album. Loose rap was going to be the 1st single but Tim found time to produce 2 songs for her album resolution and mtaw. So they chose resolution for the 1st single cause her team thought it was best to have a Tim record to start of the album. I care for you is a one in a million. Tim and missy barely made it on her last album which was her best. She could of work with anyone and made good music

Aaliyah was classy unlike the many whores we have to listen to today and when trash like Drake disgrace her honor by dissing Breezy on a track thats supposed to make us remember Aaliyah’s greatness I find it to be so beyond disrespectful!

P.S. Eric Seats (producer of “Rock the Boat”) tweeted how he disapproves of this track, I wonder if the label even involved him & his partner Rapture who helmed most of the producing on her last album “Aaliyah” to be involved w/ the album. Them, Tim & Missy knew where she wanted her sound to go & become. I’m so over Drake he should’ve went to the source & her roots before making moves!

Drake needs to stay on topic. rap about something else besides your success. Get on Chris on ya own track. Aaliyah fans don’t want to hear that.
Also, I agree with people saying missy and timb shouldve had something to do with it but don’t act like they were the only producers who knew her sound. Statik seemed to be aaliyahs primary producer before she left, unfortunately he passed too.
Also Rodney Jerkins did good work with Aaliyah.

This IS NOT Aaliyah.
This is DRAKE ft. aaliyah.
What is sad is how money controls the very people who make it. A theoretical reason you do not see Timbaland and Missy around the music of Aaliyah is probably due to a feud with Blackground records who most likely controls all unreleased and future projects with Aaliyah. Timbaland did sue Blackground so you will probably not see him around another Aaliyah project. It would be better for Drake to come out with a special project that could be marketed as a ‘dedication’ by having him “FEATURE” her vocals like this instead of “DOING” an album by her. It is very disrespectful to the fans and people who were truly touched by her music because we all know this is not the SOUND of Aaliyah. If you want to hear Aaliyah then go back and relisten to her three Albums and if you want to hear who she was and where she was going with her music, then you start with ONE IN A MILLION and end with AALIYAH. If Drake was truly a fan, he would have more sensitivity to the image of her music and fans and would do everything in his power to get Missy and Timbaland as the Executive Producers of this posthumous album no matter what political BS tried to keep them out. I don’t think Drake is a true fan; I think he is obsessed for some psychological reason that I am unsure of. There are ways to do things and this is the beginning of an example showcasing how not to do something. Please reply and let me know if you share the same thoughts or disagree and please if you do, explain with mature reasoning because we are all blessed to have different ideas of thoughts and we are all blessed to be able to communicate our thoughts to each other peacefully. I appreciate those who took the time to read my comment.

I cannot believe Drake actually pulled this off. First of all, this record is amazing. I don’t understand why everyone’s judging him for being a fan of Aaliyah. Everyone has an artist they admire and it’s the same type of love that Drake has for her. People sample Tupac and Biggie’s music, why the hell is it a big deal that Drake did it? I don’t think it should be bothersome to people that Aaliyah will have a posthumous album out, who wouldn’t wanna hear unreleased music?! I swear if Michael Jackson had a posthumous album coming out there would be no problem, people would be celebrating and that’s exactly what we should be doing for Aaliyah, celebrating her music and appreciating her art. I’m pretty positive that Timbaland and Missy are a part of this project, Drake is not that shady nor disrespectful, if Blackground Records greenlit this project then no one should throw hate on Drake.

LOVE Aaliyah, but don’t like that drake is attached to this, he didnt even know her. I’d understand if ginuwine or missy or timbo or R.kelly or even jay z did this cause they all go back. UGH! sorry ya’ll. too fabricated. RIP tho

That line to chris brown though lmaooooo “Selling under 150 u niggas gotta be kiddinggggg.” Idc what anyone says Drake always spits a mean verse and always releases dope music. Ive never been disappointed with any track Drake has come out with to date. To the people hating on dude for releasing this you should be thanking him because hes keeping Aaliyahs name and music alive. Whether you like it or not this is getting a great response. Drake is one artist that will never flop not ever.

Aaliyah would have loved this track i can assure you. Her vocals sounded awesome and the beat is very much Aaliyahs style. If she was still alive Noah “40″ Shebib would definately be working with her i cant see any other producers besides Timbaland, Missy, Rodney Jerkins, and a few others that Aaliyah would work with if she was here now.

HE’S IN THE POSITION WHERE HE CAN ACTUALLY MAKE THINGS HAPPEN. MISSY AND TIM HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS, THEY DID NOT OWN AALIYAH.. SHE GREW WITH THEM, AND WAS JUST STARTING TO SPREAD HER WINGS BEFORE SHE PASSED. SO WHO’S TO SAY WHERE SHE WOULD’VE BEEN RIGHT NOW.. JUST ENJOY THE MUSIC. SMFH……..

@CAM, Thank you! I wouldn’t even really trust Tim’s ear nowadays. He hasn’t put out a hot beat since JT and Nelly Furtado’s albums. Drake isn’t some random person just fuckin with her legacy. He’s a fan, a super fan at that, and I trust that he’ll show Aaliyah in a good light. This song is current yet still a throwback at the same time and has that classic Aaliyah vocal. The minimalist approach to the production really showcased how smooth and dope a singer Aaliyah was.

@CAM, Your exactly right on Aaliyahs last self titled album Timbaland only produced 3 songs. Aaliyah was gonna start going in a different direction in music and start working with other producers and use different sounds like incorporating alternative and other genres into R&B i think Aaliyah was gonna create a whole new lane you could hear that in her last album how she tapped into Bass guitars and instruments. That album was so innovative and different

Drake needs to jump on a Keisha Chante track and leave Aaliyah to those who actually knew her closely (i.e. Timbaland & Missy). Shit, I’d rather hear DMX or Tank on this. Drake is not in the same league! It’s like Chris Brown sampling Whitney Houston or Nicki Minaj sampling Michael Jackson.

“Drake will reportedly executive produce an upcoming posthumous album from Aaliyah.”
How is this possible? Rashad Haughton (Aaliyah’s brother) had already mentioned that there will not be a new Aaliyah album. Besides you can’t do Aaliyah album without Timbaland & Missy.

The only way Drake could have got her vocals is if her family gave it to him, so obviously they approached him to do the project. Also, yall don’t even know full details about the project to be saying it’s bad Timbaland & Missy aint involved. Everybody needs to just calm down & wait to get the full info about it all.

You people are such haters, I see the same names just sit here and alk shit. The song was very good, Aaliyah was asking her man to speak to her and vent, tell her whats going on. Drake hops on the record & does just that! He dissed Chris Brown in it WOW! Its music, he said two or three lines on that fool, but the rest he was telling you some shit he always wanted to say. I think if J. Cole oe Eminem did this you guys would ride their dick, but because its Drake you guts hate.

It’s always got to be some type of negativity whenever Drake does something to HONOR Aaliyah..people act like it’s just absolutely wrong for him to show his admiration for someone who has obviously been a very positive influence in his career and personal life.
I like the fact that he was very toned down in this song, he actually let her voice work it’s magic instead of being like some of these souped up rappers when they sample someone’s voice in their songs and completely butcher that persons’ vocals by over doing the adlibs.
He’s helping to keep her legacy alive and her name out here, he’s a fan just like anyone who’s a fan of a certain artist..it’s good to hear her voice again I think people intentionally try to be critical of Drake. It’s actually kind of sad,
especially to the people who claim to be Aaliyah’s “fans” because Aaliyah was never a jealous or bitter person..she embraced everyone and their own individual styles I think she would be happy at the fact that she was able to touch someone and their not ashamed to show it. RIP Baby Girl! props to Drake

@Thetruth, It is now 100% official that Timbaland will be producing 3 songs on Aaliyah’s Posthumous album which will be executive produced by Drake. It is reported that Aaliyahs family doesnt support it but if that was the case then Blackground records which is Aaliyahs Uncle Barry Hankersons Record label probobly wouldnt have released it. It is just common sense that Aaliyah would want all her fans and people to hear unreleased music. It has been over 10 years now so its only right. As long as the album is produced right and the material is good there shouldnt be a problem.

Okay, the song with her voice is good, Drake for me is too NOW while Aaliyah is too THEN, they don’t sync for me. And for those shading Drake and wishing death, shame on you. Yes, it feels wrong, but wishing death is some childish BS. Even when Biggie had beef with Pac he ain’t wish death because he himself said “ain’t no coming back from that.” Grow up, for real. The song is wrong but it ain’t that deep.

He makes sense you guys should look on Rapgenius cause y’all are the ones who new to get a clue. & all about that Missy & Tim. They did help her and were her mentors but I think by this time she would’ve put grew them. Think about it. She out grew R. Kelly. You guys are mindless with your rudeness towards him. Just cause he didn’t know he doesn’t mean that he couldn’t be a big fan of her. He’s allowed just like how most of you guys were a fan of her. I don’t think none of you guys know her personally. & I think he did get permission. He’s not dumb enough to do a thing like that. That would be disrespectful.

With all the drama that happend with her, R.Kelly, and the media, do you really think she would have continued to work with him? And nope! We didn’t know her personally but does he? NO. So what’s your point?

All this trash talk about Drake producing this album, but let’s be real: Drake is current and extremely popular at the moment. He can help get this album the type of attention Timbaland can’t. This younger generation can’t really say, “Oooh! Tim!” I would like to hear what he does on one of these tracks, but it might not happen. Let’s not forget that Aaliyah’s last album had only 3 out of 15 tracks produced by Tim. The rest was by Keybeats, Bud’dah, and J. Dub.
In saying that: how about we hear the finished album when it comes out then judge if Drake was the right choice to head this project or not.

Can we all just realize that a legend was brought back to hear the sweet vocals that we all miss and may never see again…. That’s the point of the matter. Every celebrity has taken a past legend and created as their own. It may not be the best song that Aaliyah would have done if she was still here, but I love Aaliyah as if she was my sister(even though I never met her in my life) & I personally have nothing to say bad about it because Aaliyah is who I love & respect and hearing her voice makes me feel like she never left (in my heart at least).
