Rap-Up.com || Sevyn Signs Solo Deal with CBE/Atlantic Records

After stints in two groups, Sevyn is ready to embark on her solo career. The R&B singer-songwriter has inked a deal with CBE/Atlantic Records.

Sevyn (previously spelled Se7en) was formerly a member of the R&B girl groups TG4 (“Virginity”) and RichGirl. Soon after, Chris Brown came calling and signed her to his CBE label (She is featured on three tracks off Fortune). Last week, she officially joined the Atlantic Records roster and is prepping her solo debut through CBE/Atlantic.

“HOME SWEET HOME!!!!!!! GREATEST DAY EVER!!!!! #CBE ATLANTIC,” tweeted an excited Sevyn. “Thank you sooo much to everyone for ALL of the congrats on my Atlantic deal!!!! FOR THOSE WHO DON’T ALREADY KNOW….GOD IS REAL!!!!”

She is already deep into recording her first album. “I have so many songs recorded. It’s gonna be really, really great,” she told Rap-Up TV.

She also added a major credit to her résumé by co-writing Alicia Keys’ “New Day,” calling it “one of the most amazing experiences of my life.”

She better give major props to Chris. If it wasn’t for him I would have heard how beautiful her voice was. She has also been featured on his F.A.M.E album ” She Aint You. She has a seductive voice that can hit all the high notes. She can sing better than Rihanna and so she needs to get her head into the game quickly. It’s a shame people are closed minded to RnB music, but with her voice and her connection to Chris she might do well. Just give credit to him for getting you there.

@Amber Streeter, I’m pretty sure she did, but I don’t like people like you, who find it necessary to tell people what they should do or why they have gotten to where they have gotten. I personally have knew her WAYYYY before Chris, in RichGirl, & she could always SANG. The songs she’s featured on Chris’ album aren’t even singles if I’m not mistaken. She’s in a joint deal of both Atlantic & Chris’ label CBE, so umm…. I believe she did thank him. But God before anybody comes 1st. Chris added to her fanbase, not made it.

Wow good for her, her voice is absolutely amazing. And agreed with the comment here above about hoping that she always stays loyal and greatful to Chris because honestly if wasn’t for him featuring her on his mixtapes and albums, I wouldn’t know bout her and that’d be a shame because she is so talented!

@Cranberry, Business is business. In the music industry, one has to work with artists, producers, managers, etc., who all have skeletons in their closet. NO ONE has a clean moral slate. As long as Sevyn is making moves and doing HER thing, let her be. It isn’t like she’s trying to date him; Chris is a major player in the industry right now and she’s climbing the ladder. Dealing with a bunch of different types of people comes with the territory in ANY profession and shows maturity. Logic always trumps emotion in business. Get your feelings out and your knowledge up.

@Cranberry, Not that I’m a CB fan but as far as sales, that Fortune album debuted at #1 on the charts (which doesn’t even matter since most people don’t buy albums these days & record sales have been dropping for YEARS.) So you really can’t base an artist’s popularity on record sales because they make their money mainly from concerts, but that’s another topic for another day. Bottom line is Chris IS a major player in the industry and Sevyn got on because her brother, Kevin McCall, is Chris’ producer. Maybe that helps clear some things up about her business dealings.

You ARE right though, YOU can support or not support any artist you choose, but your reasoning is pretty weak. Saying a person has no morals and mixing their business dealings with another artist’s personal life is a weak argument at best not to support them. No hard feelings.
