Rap-Up.com || New Music: Shanell – ‘Love Is a Losing Game’ [Amy Winehouse Cover]

Shanell pays tribute to the late Amy Winehouse with “Love Is a Losing Game,” the only cover included on her mixtape Nobody’s Bitch. Prior to her passing, the Young Money singer expressed her admiration for the British soulstress.

“I love the way she sings these great conceptual songs, but it has some hip-hop element to it,” Shanell previously told Rap-Up.com. “Her attitude is just so funky, but she’s singing songs as though she’s this straight narrow singer.”

Ont like the phrasing. Good effort tho. You can’t just sing an Amy Winehouse song. You gotta feel it all over. The only passable cover of an Amy song I’ve heard is Melanie Fiona’s Wake Up Alone cover but alot of that has to do with her tone.

I’ll wait until I hear the tape to judge Shanell. I’ve liked some of her songs.
