Rap-Up.com || Video: Brandy f/ Chris Brown

Brandy is back and better than ever in the dance-heavy video for her first single “Put It Down.” The R&B diva rocks her signature braids and cozies up to her co-star Chris Brown in front of a white Ferrari in the colorful clip, directed by Hype Williams. She hits the streets and shows off some moves courtesy of choreographer Frank Gatson (Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland).

“She’s been one of my inspirations musically. As far as females are concerned, she’s one of the best vocalists,” Chris told “The Insider” on set of the L.A. shoot. “I’m honored to have the chance to be on the record with her.”

Brandy’s sixth album Two Eleven arrives October 16 via RCA/Chameleon Records. It will feature contributions from Timbaland, Danja, Hit-Boy, Noah “40” Shebib, Rico Love, Ester Dean, Frank Ocean, and more.

You know those who hate in brandy should ask themselves what would they release if they were her? She tried pop & ballads on Human which flopped and then tried rapping with bran’number which also flopped. This is exactly what classic brandy in 2012 sounds like. The video clearly takes inspiration from beyonce, the color scenes remind me of rihanna’s rude bit, the warehouse scenes of ciara’s speechless video and finally overall it looked like she swagger jacked Kelly Rowland (same choreographer, same blue tinge and dance as the motivation video). Everything considered its half decent. Won’t really cause any damage on Tue charts. Ready for single 2 now please

Hype Williams def fell off, from the shots you can tell there was so much potential of making this a hot performance video but the editing was horrible. Since she performed the song every one knows the dance sequence and you can tell they didn’t put the right dance shots with particular parts of the song. I was really tryna see Brandy get crazy in her video w/ all the dancing she’s been doing. But I definitely blame Hype Williams and the editor for not satisfying my needs for the video. In a positive note I still love Brandy wish her nothing but the best and she looked beautiful in the video. Brandy and her team needs to contact Hype & his team and tell them to make a alternative video with the right shots that matches the dance with the song. I’m real Brandy fan and soo happy the video is finally out for promo wise but so mad I’m not satisfied.

I’m frustrated with Brandy and her team right now. I support her 100% and will continue to purchase her albums but this song worries me in the fact that she chose this as her first single…? It’s WEAK, and so is the video. It just comes off as corny to me. The dancing, the effects, her trying to be sexy with those guys in the beginning(really?) and the list goes on. Not to mention, this song was released more than 3 months ago and the video JUST CAME OUT after weeks of teasing us with stills from the video making it out to be like it was going to be a CRAZY/EPIC video when it’s clearly not. I still love her though. I just hope this song fades (which I’m sure it will) and she chooses something else that suits her a lot better.

I just want Brandy to be BRANDY! I hope she doesn’t release this album with intentions of satisfying THIS younger generation.

Do I think Brandy could release a good album? H*LL YES!

Do I like this song & video? H*LL NO!

In my opinion this is her weakest video EVER!

I just want her to stay true to her roots and give the fans what they’ve been waiting for. I’d rather her have a song with Chris SINGING! Because I’m not here for his rapping.

I love it!!! This is a dream come true having Brandy and CB on a record together! I never get tired of this song. The video is dope!!! Brandy looks beautiful and i like how she brought the braids back. Can’t wait to buy Brandy’s new album AND Team Breezy for life!!!! :p :)

The people that think this video is good must not have ever seen a 90′s or early 2000 Hype Williams video. This dude has fallen off so hard. Compared to the videos he use to direct this is amateur at best i mean this video is just not up to par with Brandys caliber especially now in her career. Im surprised this video wasnt scrapped. Just horrible. Hype Williams needs to retire.

Yes, the video gives off some similarities to Kelly’s “motivation”, but Brandy wasn’t the director or the person who wrote the treatment…

And it’s not that we’re all being hard on Brandy. I, for one, am a HUGE Brandy fan (since day 1)…but I feel so let down by this video and song…I am shocked that Brandy didn’t come hard with some substance…this is wayyyy below par for Brandy…the song has no good melody/harmonies (until the Bridge towards the end), the video just looks tacky and thrown together…as if Brandy was the one who did the actual editing on that Sony Vaio during the clip in the video…I’m just getting annoyed that her album keeps getting pushed back and her video took forever to come out, and the video ain’t even good…

I hope the album sounds nothing like the first single…I wanna hear some good Classic urban RnB Brandy, with hot beats and great melodies, great lyrics, depth, substance, and quality…this is probably Brandy’s last chance, really…she should’ve come a lot harder than that!!
