Rap-Up.com || New Music: Brandy – ‘Wildest Dreams’

Brandy finds true love on “Wildest Dreams,” the second single from her RCA/Chameleon Records debut Two Eleven, due October 16. The follow-up to the Chris Brown-assisted “Put It Down” was inspired by her real-life boyfriend Ryan Press.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I think someone could care ’bout me/ Not just the way you love me, but you know I’m emotional,” sings a vulnerable Brandy on the mid-tempo record, produced by Tha Bizness and written by Sean Garrett.

According to Rolling Stone, Brandy’s album will feature contributions from Bangladesh on the Lykke Li-sampled “Let Me Go,” Mike WiLL Made It (“Do You Know”), Mario Winans (“Wish Your Love Away”), Rico Love and Jim Jonsin (“Hardly Breathing”), Hit-Boy (“White Flag”), and a potential duet with Frank Ocean on “Scared of Beautiful.”

So so so so so so so so so so so much better than “Put It Down.” This is the sound that everyone was hoping for from Brandy. I’m so excited for her new album. I read an article on Billboard.com and they previewed her album and Rodney Jerkins said “Two/Eleven” is her best work since “Never Say Never.” Lastly, that promo shot is F.L.A.W.L.E.S.S. I have seen it floating around for the past few weeks and was hoping it was from her album shoot.

@BRANDY= DA TRUTH, yeah, I am sad to say I agree. I liked “Put It Down” (especially when she performs the vocals live) but was disappointed with the finished edit of the video. It looked as though Hype had one of his interns edit it. It was just too much going on, and they should’ve shown more of the dancing between Brandy and Chris.

Anywho — I like this song a lot. Not sure whether it will be a big single yet, but I’m hoping for us Starz that it is!! Either way, I’m happy for Brandy!! She better get a #1 album or I’ll be highly upset! :)

This doesnt sound like a single. Not catchy, just good vocals and lyrics. This sounds like it would be a song that comes after a single on her album (Album Filler). This will do ok on Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Chart but it damn sure wont crack Hot 100.

@Tru, Def not an album filler. just because a song ISNT a single doesnt mean its an album filler. shes worked too hard on this to make any of those type of tracks. its sad that peepz are more concerned with singles and not the quality of an entire album. it explains why rnb is sooooooo terrible now.

Cant say im in love with this song. I remember hearing I Wanna Be Down, Baby and Best Friend on the radio back in 94/95 and instantly was hooked but this is just like whatever. The beggining of the song threw me off. Boring beat, nice lyrics and vocals but not a smash hit. I cant imagine singing this song in the car or anything. Ill be surprised if this cracks Billboard Hot 100

@Dreamteam, the intro is exactly what I like the less from this song.

feels like a completley different song than the hook and the whole vibe of the track.

maybe it needed more instruments, or some piano in after the first harmonies, dont know.

The hook is good, tho. I was dissapointed yesterday, but after hearing it two times now, Im starting to love this. The hook is catchy, urban AC will use this, for sure.

This song DOES have the potential to make the charts WITH the proper MARKETING. People swear they know so much about what will make it when the success of a single doesnt only have to do with the song itself -_- just look at super bass.

I am in love with this song. I wish people would just see the song for what it is. Everyone wants to be a music expert. “The song is great but…” Stop with all of the extra. The song is the shit! I see exactly what Brandy was going for with this sound. A hard 90s beat laced with a piano, beautiful R&B lyrics with a pop chorus. SHE DID THAT!

I’m in LOVE with this song, shit is great and a fresh breath of air to all the garbage and pop shit thats out now! S/O to Brandy really caring about going hard this time. I can already see this video with a nice concept, throw in a couple simple but swagged out choreography and some nice fall fashion. And I already see all the rappers jumpin on this for remixes and they own versions. This 90s feel that simple but go hard R&B was definitely missed.

P.S. if anybody should jump on the remix I feel like Meek Mill could do this song justice thats my opinion thou

Upon the first listen, I really didn’t care for the song much; but after downloading it to my phone…baaaaaabbbbbyyyyy this song KNOCKS! Brandy at her finest! I love that she’s sticking to her roots while being contemporary at the same time. Brandy has NEVER had a horrible album, and I’m sure Two Eleven will be FIRE!!!!

YES!!! Finally!!! This is that song that Brandy let us hear a sample of a few months ago I think. This just kills right here!!! Brandy is slaying this joint. Her voice is just melting over the beat. The production and all the vocals/sounds in the background are insane! Everybody knows that Brandy is that deal. The stuff she does with her voice always gets me. She’s a vocal genius! I can definitely ride to this. LOVE IT!!! Props to Tha Bizness and Sean Garrett. I like this sound for Brandy. I want this new album yesterday!!!!! :)

@Jay, yeah this is the track she let us here the beginning to when she was on Ustream earlier this year…when i heard the sample I was hoping it wouldnt sound too “hip hop-ish”, but i’m definitely satisfied that it has more of an R&B feel to it…This is the direction she needs to pursue in order to get back to her “classic” music!

I’m definitely getting 2/11! Brandy is a beast! This so reminds me of that 90′s sound. I remember when it was Aaliyah, Brandy, Monica, Mya, SWV, TLC, En Vogue, Total, 702, etc. omg the 90′s were priceless! Dru Hill, Jagged Edge, Shai, H-Town, Montel Jordan, Aaron Hall, R Kelly, Joe mmmmm music was so good. Damn What happen to real music! Glad we still have Brandy and Monica. R.I.P to my baby girl Aaliyah!
