New Music: LoLa Monroe – ‘Don’t Wake Me’

Don't Wake Me

LoLa Monroe has been keeping it strictly for the streets with her free tracks, but she switches up the pace on her latest release “Don’t Wake Me.” The Taylor Gang princess realizes her dreams on the Rob Holladay-produced track. In addition to readying her own mixtape, LoLa is reportedly working on a collaboration with Azealia Banks.

Say what you want about Lola being a former video model but she is proving she can hold her own on that mic and I see her making different kind of music. This is nice!! Love her direction.

It’s just like Auto Biography, Moment 4 Life, Save Me, Last Chance and Can Anybody Hear Me. All Songs By Ms. MINAJ! So ya can’t sayMs. Minaj Didn’t put these females on the map again. Nicki and everyone deserves all the respect they get for doing their things.

@AllAmerykhanBoy, PROOF? I don’t hear in this song where LoLa makes references to slaying Goliath with a Sling or about her dad burning down her house. It’s very easy to be simple minded and compare just so you it’s easier for you to accept something. Nicki Minaj is not the first and only female rapper to make emotional and empowering tracks. It’s sad that just because Nicki fans are huge fans of Nicki they have know prior knowledge of who else has done it in hip hop. Lola Monroe has been very reflective about her struggles & triumphs in past tracks that have been released like Exodus, Fly Away, and All I Need off her mixtape… It pays to know what you are talking about before making claims. The things Nicki talks about now in her music are not similar to what LoLa talks about now in her music.

Lola Monroe has grown tremendously and that’s impossible not to see. This track is on POINT. It’s REAL and she’s killing it. I’m loving her direction and I love that she’s been able to stay true to herself while developing her skill and proving all of these basic bitches dead wrong.

She aspires to be Nicki SO MUCH.! Lol. SIT girl.

    DC Reply:

@justdr, i don’t see Lola wearing pink wigs or talking about screwing bad bitches like Nicki. Yall make it seem like Nicki is the first female rapper to make those self empowering tracks where she is singing and rapping… Go listen to Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, or Queen Latifah they did it before Lola and Nicki ever stepped foot in this game. Yall just want to put her in the box with Nicki because yall can’t accept the fact that she’s herself. Nicki content is way different from LoLa’s content. Any fan of both can distinguish that. Let LoLa do her thing and stop being bitter about other female rappers
