Ciara smolders on screen in the sensual video for “Sorry,” the first single off her upcoming album One Woman Army, due in December. The R&B siren cozies up to her hunky co-star in the clip, which was shot earlier this summer in L.A. The slow jam, helmed by Jasper Cameron, was inspired by a former boyfriend.
“It’s someone that I really loved,” CiCi told ESSENCE. “They’ll know who they are when they hear the song.”

@Marc Lavell, I think the album will be better. I love Cici but I can’t help but think this is a bit boring. I think if she was looking for a big hit return, she needed to tap into that oh so popular dance hype, like she had success with Enrique with Taking Back My Love… and her already great songs Overdose and Livin it Up. I think she would have been on to a winner both overseeas and in the states

@boom boom, I love how you base the direction of her future career off of your opinion of this song. But hey, as the “rap-up” jack*ss, I guess it’s your job! XD
@Losephhh, Essense Magazine asked if it was bout Amare or 50 and she replied it isnt about “Amare” lol plus it obvious the lead in the video looks like a skinny ass 50 cent lol
Yasss!!!! I love it!! So happy she came back strong.. This reminds me of Promise, it could be the part 2 to that.. Let’s hope it has the same effect as Promise had… Congrats CiCi :)
Wow Ciara really got me on this one. It’s basically Promise part 2, but it’s ok when you give us something as good as Sorry. Anybody else noticed her vocals? Damn she improved and you can hear the emotions and vulnerability.
The problem I’ve had w/ her last two records was that her vocals sound auto-tuned. I’m impressed ‘Sorry’ is probably the closest to her real voice so far. Also, I see a lot of potential in electro-R&B (Miguel, Kelly Rowland) and I like where Ciara’s heading. This could be a pretty good record.
I’m kinda pissed at her. This is the type of shit she should’ve put out right after The Evolution instead of killing us (fans) with this new ish. This is progressive Cici from back then. If she ever wonder why there was such a loop hole in her career it’s because the true Ciara fans didn’t & couldn’t stomach nor stand for that bull she was throwing. From day one people doubted her, but US & she proved them right time and time again. YES Never ever, Work, Gimmie Dat, Ride was all cute…but the majority of the albums those hits were on were complete bull & full with hooks & no substance. I’m ready for this ho to get back in the race because this is true tee R&B music!!! love the ode to jodeci swag & her voice sounds much more matured since Goodies. This said I am proud of her & ready for her to take her next step to being what I know she can be.
I personally don’t understand why people want Ciara to fail so bad. It’s not like she makes bad music, & her videos are almost always on point, in my opinion.
But I like it. She gave sex appeal, she gave a little R&B when everybody else is still on that europop tip. THUMBS UP CI!
U See the bad thing about hyping up a song, it has to be epic unless people are dissapointed. She hyped this up a lot, and honestly the song is not edgy and kinda weak. Def not comeback and people take notice material.
I liked this song when it was called Promise. Video was nice and sexy as usual but she need some radio hits fast or she is done. Period! Not like she is some big song writer. She is a R&B/Pop Star. Step it up Ci
i really appreciate this song and video. granted it is reminiscent of promise, it is still a strong song. in a world where RNB has seemed to lost its way in a crowd of drugged up hoes fist pumpmin, ciara stays true to the genre as a well rounded performer and vocalist. i wish more artists were about art rather than the fame.
@Hottest_one, i hear what your saying but to be honest i would rather listen to this anyday, that harks back to the great RnB days of the 90′s rather than the sell out electro pop that is being totted as RnB presently.
@Jazz, y would they be beyonce stans..ciara is no were near beyonce level…and we are rooting for her…it can be a hot song…hell it can be the best song but if its not what people want at this moment..it will do nothing.
I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED IT. She looked great, she sounded good, she danced amazing. The song was in the same vein of “Promise”. I loved everything about it.
This song is dated. It sounds like a mix between “Promise” & Ginuwine’s “Differences.” It’s 2012, Cici, we need evolution from you. Stop wearing that same old tired long, curly, blonde/brown weave; rock it short and black. And stop whining over these athletes, dammit!
Ciara this is what your FANS wanted!!! Nobody cares what you people who dont like Ciara’s music have to say. Yall want her to do that Euro Pop crap. We fans of her want her to stay true TO CIARA and not try to blend in because as you see when she tried to do that it didnt work for her. GO CIARA you have a HIT!! this will be a smash hit for the winter and fall.
JWILL (C-Squad All Day) Reply: September 13th, 2012 at 5:03 pm
Why are you cats on some “Promise” sh*t? The songs have 2 different meanings, damn! Just because CiCi sings a ballad doesn’t mean it’s another “And I.” ..smh.. At least be more creative when y’all insult her, ‘cus your excuses are tired!
welp… the first thing I want to say is cici welcome back! the second, the vids cute ,but the song… is a little boring, um mean I like ciara ,and Im glad she still did an r&b song ,but I wouldn’t have chose this as a comeback or single in general…sorry :-(

i am a HUGE ciara fan and i am sooooooooooooo happy that she is finally showing vulnerability in her songs lyrically and vocally. production wise this does sound a lil like promise but i like it. hopefully it will have the same impact promise did. i loved the video. her dancing was on mf point and i like how they shot her dance sequence. it made it seem raw. . .her promo is on point this time. i reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally hope OWA does well bc ci is so underrated.
This Song Is So Touching And I Aint Even A Girl Man , Like This Hit Deep ! I Love This I Can Listen To This On Repeat G. Keep Up The Good Work CiCi Cant Wait For OWA
I love this record, omg! Ciara brought some memories of a failed relationship for me. I almost came to tears and this is a dude saying this like I’m amazed and the one thing that hurts the most is to loose the one true love you hoped to build your life with because of their pride. #memories! R&B needs these relatable kind of subjects back and this just made me remember why the 90′s r&B music was my favorite era. Great job Ciara, you have my support 100%. Thank you for not riding the euro techno wave everyone else is using to garner album sales and staying true to you R&b roots! Amazing, simply amazing!
Slayed!!!! So proud of her and the epic team.! Love how she always incorporate dance in her ballads. She never disappoints her fans– only her previous label did. This is an unforgettable era for her. And people please stop comparing her to other female artists. They all different in their musical styles. Respect them all and let them all shine
Lol , all I see is ” flop” .smh. Y’all stay hatin on Ciara but Lowkey you jammin the hell out of the song . I can say , this era started off pretty damn good tbh . The video was a different side of her . We never seen this Ciara , ever. All ima say is , congrats ciara , you deserve this . We seen you grown , fall and rise again . “haters on the blog , pay em no mind.” I’m just ready for more .
Ps if y’all say this was the evolution era what the fck is “enough of no love? I’ll wait .
OK… THIS DOES NOT SOUND LIKE PROMISE TO ME AT ALL I MUST BE DEAF OR SOMTHING, JUST CUZ ITS A SLOW SONG ALL YALL WANNA BE LIKE”OH IT REMINDS ME OF PROMISE” STFU WITH THAT CUZ THIS AND PROMISE ARE SOO DIFFERENT 2 DIFFERENT TOPICS PEOPLE. BUT I LOVE THIS SONG SOOO MUCH THIS IS REAL R&B AND ITS A GREAT COMEBACK FOR HER, IF SHE WOULD HAVE CAME OUT WITH A POP SONG YALL WOULD HAVE BEEN LIKE “OH EVERYBODY DOING THE SAME TYPE OF MUSIC NO ORIGINALITY” UGH SOME OF YALL WILL NEVER BE SATISFIED WITH HER MUSIC. BUT IF U DON’T LIKE CIARA OR THINK SHE IS SUCH A FLOP THEN STOP CHECKIN FOR HER LIKE FOREAL ITS TONS OF ARTIST OUT THERE THAT YOU CAN CHECK FOR WHO U ACTUALLY LIKE. BUT OVERALL I LOVE THIS SONG AND IM SURE IT WILL DO GREAT ON THE R&B CHARTS AND IF PEOPLE GO OUT AND BUY THE SINGLE AND ALBUM WHEN IT COMES OUT CIARA WILL DO GREAT! IM SUPPORTING HER EITHER WAY #OWA BABY!!!
@Elijah, Its not the lyrics that makes the song sound like “Promise” its the beat you moron! You can’t expect people to like a lukewarm song, if it isn’t hot it isn’t hot…
I guess it ‘s good when it comes to an artist like Ciara but i couldn’t help but feel underwhelm by this! Don’ get me wrong it’s a beautiful song with equally beautiful visuals but i wasn’t expecting an R&B song to be release visually as her first single!
i agree… this is what should have followed Evolution. Nevertheless this ISH is haaawwwwt! Whether this smashes or not I highly doubt it. I could see it burning the top-twenty on the R&B?/Hip-Hop chart but as for the Hot 100? it’ll be look to break number 90. (just like Put It Down by Brandy). Shame cus its decent. Just so many years out of date.
@Aj, stop saying it’s out of date…it aint out of date AT ALL…if this is out of date then TREY SONGZ is out of date, then NEYO is out of date, then, BEYONCE (party, dance for you, etc), MONICA (all her songs), KEYSHIA COLE (all her songs), and ALL the other R&B ARTISTS who put out R&B music are out of date…
stop making generic assumptions…just b/c it’s not pop doesn’t mean it’s out of date, that would be like putting the genre out of business…
@JWILL (C-Squad All Day, you mad huh?
it’s understandable, I mean, you stand for a flop artist, you know she will flop. You can stay pressed, that’s fine… Watch it flop and you’ll remember my ass, lmao-
@PAUL, Yeah, but you know 90% of the commenters are remedial 12 year olds who don’t even know who Ginuwine is. “Ginuwine?! What kind of liquor is that???” .. o_O …
I’m a huge Ciara fan but I can’t lie, this song is underwhelming. I will definitely support her when “One Woman Army” drops and I REALLY HOPE her next single “Got Me Good” is better. She NEEDS a hit!
this is beyond horrible, sorry but even her vocals weren’t on point (but when are they ever) i mean the song is just boring as fk no radio will play this at all except a few r&b slow jams stations this will not chart at all c-error has done it again #FLOPALBUM4INTHEMAKING she needs to just put in a application to be beyonce’s background dancer or try out for americas best dance crew or so you think you can dance. this video had cheap ass quality like watching a bootleg movie thats kinda clear but just isnt quite there. nice try tho 3 out of 10 GOOD DAY FOLKS.
The song and video is nice, In my opinion this song and “Promise” are nothing alike.
I’m happy as hell she didn’t go with some “pop” song like everybody else is doing.
I’ve noticed that when it comes to Ciara, some people are just down right HATERS.
You say she needs to go back to her roots and when she does then you all say she needs to do something different.
She seems like shes in such a happy part of her life, not only does she has a new team behind her, but she also has a new
label behind her as well.
I think this era is gonna be really good, and I know for a fact when this album comes out i’ll be getting my copy.
@cOmeATmeBro, I agree. I think “Promise” and “Sorry” sound a little alike in terms of production but the concepts of the songs are COMPLETELY different. It’s growing on me a bit.
Gonna have to wait for “Got Me Good” im not convinced with this. Ciara needs to come much harder this is the third and last chance to revive your career dont fu*k it up. This song will probobly do ok on R&B/Hip Hop Billboard charts but Ciara needs Billboard hot 100 top 10 hits. Show people you are a force to be reckoned with.
This is my shit right now! Idk why but I feel like this is the first time that Ciara kept it all the way real on a record and I actually connected to it
Lyrically this is a really good song i think this might be the song that will put Ciara back on the map cause people can relate to it. The last song i felt confident in but didnt do well was “Speechless” i thought that track was so heavily slept on. Ciara is bringing some good music and not going to pop route which is nice.
just because you have a billboard hot 100 top 10 doesn’t mean shit, you can have a billboard hot 100 top 10 and still not go gold on your album or have good first week sales.
well, it won’t be a hit, and it probably won’t win any new fans, but, in general, the song is not bad, it has a nice 90s R&B vibe, less autotuned, seems heartfelt. i think ciara’s fans should be pleased with the song.
Beautiful. I really want her to have success with this album. Make sure you guys buy the song when it’s out on iTunes and request it at your local stations!
people are so ignorant music doesnt have a time spand.. if its time less its timeless and this honestly would be a timeless r&b track it was really good and i enjoyed it it was what we needed and charts please who cares if you know anything its all about appearances and keeping a clean face.. artist make no money from record sales but for every thing else
Yo this song is amazing! If people can’t appreciate GENUINE R&B thats them! This song will do well regardless! It is amazing and it is receiving and abundance of exposure! i am sooo proud of Ciara
I LOVE this song and the video, Ciara did a great job. I’m no Ciara stan, but people just hate on Ciara just to hate and its getting old and tired. If you don’t like her don’t listen to her its that easy.
I LOVE IT!!!!! This is the first song in awhile from Ciara that actually has some potential to be a big hit for her! With the proper promotion this could be HUGE for her. I love the vibe and it definitely reminds me of 90s with that old school RnB feel….NICE JOB CIARA keep it up though
It is interesting to see that almost all Ciara singles sound the same. Besides her debut there has always been a song as a single that has this tempo/beat/melody/singing style
Promise, Never Ever, Speechless, Ride, Sorry sound all the same and with time it gets boring. 1 would have been enough. No wonder this woman has no success.
She should quit music because she doesn’t deliver anything worth hearing. I stopped listening to her albums after Fantasy Ride, now I won’t pursue a single song any further after this. Funny how careers change.
She’s in a row with Teairra Marí, Cassie and all those others who can’t find back to some good music.
@NeutralPerson, It is well known in the industry about Ciara lil problem no I am not talking about her penis it is the fact that she has a limited vocal range and carry or hold her notes she has the weakest head voice in world unless she whispers and adlibs she does resorts to talking fast. The Production team know they have to go heavy on bass the song writers know it hard to write for someone with a non-existence vocal range. It the reason high bass, high tempo suits her better her like Goodies and 1,2 step she cannot sing, who voice is completly flat, she cannot reach a high/medium note let alone sustain it, more and people are hearing that. LA Ried time should be better spent with singers who are not about fake valley girl accents, weave and dancing but actually singing. Ciara dancing is not part of the skill set required by singers rather it having the ability to sing. Remove the weave, fix the long toes and become a dance instructor. Ciara want to start selling well how about singing on your records rather that talk and whisper.
I LOVE IT FROM THE SONG TO THE VIDEO IT’S PERFECT AND I’M GLAD CIARA IS IN A HAPPY STAGE OF HER LIFE EVEN THO’ SHE’S HURTING SHE’S SHOWING THAT YOU CAN STILL SMILE, #OWA #CSQUAD
I respet her so much for not following the wack music that as been around for awhile i’m talking about dance/ellectro shit, she can dance and sing a little perfect combination with GOOD vibes, I just love it!
I can’t stop watching this video!!! Sorry is most definitely one of Ciara’s best songs…it’s just so real. I practically know the words already. And the video direction is amazing. I love how the camera shakes when CiCi’s dancing and the sun hitting the screen through the window. Ciara always delivers! Also, the lyrics video is amazing as well. Most lyric video don’t draw me in like that one does. You really feel the lyrics. I’m so excited for this new album!!
Ciara is just beautiful!!! I’m for real addicted to Ciara’s body, voice and the way she moves! Can’t no other girl move like her! One Woman Army baby!!!! :)
Great job Ciara and love the Video too. I am so happy for her, now we needs her TEAMS to promote the hell out of this song and she’s will be back on top. Ciara’s fighting for her love “50 cent” i ain’t mad at you girl get your man.
Damn. It must suck to live life waiting for someone to fail.
I salute you Ciara. Even if this flops (which I don’t think it will unless you sell NO COPIES), you tried. That’s something some people will never understand, that’s why they will always be the ones on the sidelines wishing for people to join them. Misery+company=haters
This song is magic it make me feel like making mends with my ex and apologizing for the wrong things that I said, mmmmm this is some good R&b foreal foreal! I love it! “All you had to do is say that Im sorry, Im in love with you and I still want this and Ima do all it takes and Ima be here all the way” Whew I’m in Love with Ciara fine self!
nice music video even tho people already know that this song is about 50 cent cause she dated him for two yrs or 3 yrs. and now she’s in a better place
Willow, Rita Ora, Rhianna, Beyonce and Kelly Rowland will slay this ho, Ciara almost 30 and still cannot sing. Bitch stop whispering only Janet Jackson and Britney Spears can do that.

This could be a pretty good record.

now first let me say that i LOVE Ciara.
But…
I’m kinda pissed at her.

But I like it. She gave sex appeal, she gave a little R&B when everybody else is still on that europop tip. THUMBS UP CI!

@NeutralPerson, Let me guess, but you would rather listen to Rhianna who’s music has NO meaning and is mainly about sex. No.
“Sorry” sounds NOTHING like any-other Ciara record.

@NeutralPerson, Yeah there’s a reason they sound similar. It’s called singing an R&B ballad.
Except for Ride. You were way out in left field with that one.
