Rap-Up.com || Video: Solange – ‘Losing You’

After a four-year hiatus, Solange returns with the feel-good video for her new single “Losing You.” The colorful clip was directed by Melina and shot in Cape Town, South Africa, with members of the stylish Le Sapeurs subculture. The fashionista rocks Suno, Kenzo, DVF, and J. Crew in the vibrant visuals.

“When Melina and I decided to film ‘Losing You’ in South Africa, we really didn’t have a real firm concept in place,” the 26-year-old singer told Pitchfork. “It was sort of a grab a camera and let’s go moment. I knew I wanted to capture a couple things: the vibe of our friendship and all of the crazy escapades we’ve gotten ourselves into all over the world, and the abstract and elegant Le Sape Society (Society for the Advancement of People of Elegance) formed in the Congo which was documented by Daniele Tamagni in his Gentleman of Bacongo book. We called Daniele to guide us, and some of my friends from New York came down to Cape Town and we all had a very damn good time.”

Penned by Solange and Dev Hynes and produced by Blood Orange, the funky record is available now on iTunes via Terrible Records. The B-side, “Sleep in the Park,” features Of Montreal’s Kevin Barnes.

i looooooooved this video it looks so fun. i would love to chill with her for a day. the song has to grow on me though. i still listen to sol-angel and the hadley st dreams to this day so im rooting for her!

I love how your video was done really on a humble and impromptu excursion around S.Africa! It had color and character. I found it to be artwork! God Bless and I can’t wait to hear the rest. That was a throwback feel. I was at DVF for FNO as well where u went in on your Dj set. Been followin u since u started DJ’n! Last time I saw you and ur fam was at Grits & Biscuits at Irving Plaza!

I really love Solange. This song is so good, I’m not saying that it’s a so original like everybody else, but is sure is good in it’s genre! What makes the song brilliant is the video. Mostly I watch a video for like one time and never see it again, but I already watched this one over and over again. Love it! Great style great dance great everything!

I hope her new album is as timeless as Sol-angel and the bla bla… because I still love that album!
