Iggy Azalea, B.o.B, T.I., and Trae Tha Truth

The highlight of the BET Hip Hop Awards has always been the cyphers. This year didn’t disappoint, serving up numerous performances featuring both established and up-and-coming spitters. With DJ Premier on the turntables, T.I. led his Grand Hustle squad with a glammed-up Iggy Azalea, Chip, and B.o.B., while the West Coast represented with Snoop Dogg, E-40, and Kendrick Lamar. The Ruff Ryders barked back with DMX and Eve. Showcasing the international appeal of hip-hop, overseas talent also showed off like Sarkode from Ghana.

But Talib Kweli had the most quoted line of the night: “I’m Frank Ocean at a Chick-fil-A, I’ll never get served,” he rapped.

I cannot wait to see this huge variety of cyphers on the BET Hip Hop Awards tonight. This is always a favorite part of the show for me. I can’t wait to hear Sardokie’s rhymes and it sounds like Talib Kweli really showed everyone how it’s done. I’m glad my DISH coworker reminded me that the award show would be on tonight. I was able to set up a timer from my phone using the DISH Remote Access app just in time. I also love that I’m able to watch both live and recorded shows all on my phone.

I have to go with the OG’s of rap Snoop, Quik, and E-40 and leading the way with Kendrick Lamar. And Mystikal cypher was funny as usual I’m a hug fan of the pioneers of hip hop but I also liked them all in a whole.

I just love seeing rappers freestyle and show there true talent, So much respect and love to all the MC’s in the BET 2012 Cypher this year.

I have to give credit where it is due, Iggy Azalea’s verse was worthy to be in a cypher. Why can’t she put as much effort into her mixtapes? This is what I can respect. Not that played-out Down South type of shit.

…that Talib Kweli line, though. It would’ve worked for Lil Wayne, but for a lyricist like him? It felt like a cheap punchline.
