Kendrick Lamar

From music to staying drug-free, Kendrick Lamar sat down with Hot 97’s Cipha Sounds, Rosenberg, and K. Foxx to talk about his debut good kid, m.A.A.d city, his workout regime, politics, and why Lady Gaga was left off his album.

Kendrick and Gaga recorded two songs, “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe” and “Partynauseous,” but neither made the cut. He attributes her absence to meeting his deadline. “I had to meet pre-order dates,” he said. “The song [‘Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe’] is there, but her initial vocals are not there.”

While Dr. Dre is listed as executive producer, K-Dot maintained “100% creative control” over his album, letting Dre oversee the project and master it.

The “Swimming Pools” rapper shared that he doesn’t approve of hip-hop’s pill-popping trend and he personally doesn’t want to “be dependent on nothing” as far as drugs go.

With just weeks before the presidential election, Kendrick plans on voting because he doesn’t want Mitt Romney to win. “Romney, he don’t have a good heart,” he said.
