New Music: Big Sean – ‘Guap’![]() Big Sean stacks his paper on “Guap,” the first single from his sophomore album Hall of Fame, due December 18. The G.O.O.D. Music signee taunts his enemies and “hatin’ hos” with his success on the island-flavored song, produced by Key Wane (“Amen”) and Young Chop (“I Don’t Like”), with ad-libs from Kanye West. “This to all of my enemies that see me getting guap right now/ See me getting guap right now/ Hell yeah, I won’t stop right now,” raps the Detroit MC over steel drums. “As crazy as life is for me, sometimes I need a feel good song to escape to n just turn the fuck up on!” explained Sean. “This to anybody who had to work hard to get it! Anybody who grind non stop to shine!”

Reminds me of Trick Daddy’s “Im A Thug”, definitely a different sound from current radio, DO IT, BOI.

I’m the only one who thinks it’s terrible? Big Sean has good moments, but overall, like 2 Chainz, I’ve always seen him as a terrible rapper. A sophomore album with this as a lead single can only be the beginning of a sophomore slump. Rapping about money isn’t dope to me. I want a story a la Kendrick Lamar style

@whitney, everyone has a style. Sean likes talking about being the best, gettin money, never giving up, not forgetting where he came from and working hard. He’s not K.Lamar and i appreciate Big Sean music. he talks about his life and where he stands right now

@whitney, that’s the thing. Everybody can’t be like the other. How boring would that be if everyone made the same style music. And nothing I hate more than artist forcing depth in their music. If you make good stripper music like 2 chains, than do that the best you can’t and not try to b the next 2pac.
I like Sean style, I hope he keeps it.

@Meme, True, but for me, Sean doesn’t stand out and he isn’t that good. I want to like him, but if this is his new direction…no, I’d like to hear more about his growing up in Detroit rather than “guap”. Idk, I’ve just had it with getting money anthems. This is a poor comparison, but I like how Rihanna keeps changing her thing each new record, nothing too recycled, I’d like something new and different from Sean, better what for Hall of Fame I guess

@whitney,listen to ‘she’ he released that, its basically the same topic as J. Cole’s lost ones but its a more up beat version who would want another similar one when J. Cole released the same topic.
Kendrick is no better than Sean imo

Control, your hoes, you let her talk to you crazy
You got baby mama drama, you ain’t even got you a baby — Lines like this is why I love Big Sean
No two rappers are the same and Sean is more of a having fun kind of rapper than a serious rapper and thats just the way it is

I’m not sure what SEAN’s been doing of late but his music seems like it took a turn, for the worst. Sounds all choppy and not G.O.O.D.
