Eminem to Executive Produce Skylar Grey's Debut Album

Skylar Grey is getting a major co-sign. Eminem has signed on to executive produce the singer-songwriter’s debut album.

The first single, “C’mon Let Me Ride” featuring Eminem, was produced by Alex Da Kid and mixed by Eminem and Alex. It will be released to all digital retailers on December 11. A video was recently shot in Detroit.

“The song is something totally unexpected from me,” said Grey. “Sometimes I can’t even believe that it came out of my mouth. But it did. And soon, it will be in your ears.”

Grey’s debut album Don’t Look Down, previously titled Invinsible, is due out next spring on KIDinaKORNER/Interscope. The title is borrowed from the lyrics to her song “Tower.”

“Putting out a debut album is a bit scary—I want it to be just right so I took some extra time to finish it. Eminem’s increased involvement has been such a blessing; I’m getting guidance from an artist I really admire and trust,” said Grey. “Having written many new songs, the album has become a completely different animal, hence the title change. This new single with Em, in particular, is very exciting. We have worked on so many serious songs together—it’s a nice change of pace to do something fun and sarcastic.”

The two previously collaborated on Eminem’s 2010 hit “Love the Way You Lie.” “When I was working on Recovery I was introduced to Skylar by Alex Da Kid and I was blown away with her talent as both a songwriter and vocalist,” said Em. “This album is really going to give her a chance to connect with the fans who probably know her music, but might not know her yet. I think they will be as impressed as I am.”

In addition to her work with Dr. Dre (“I Need a Doctor”), Diddy-Dirty Money (“Coming Home”), and Lupe Fiasco (“Words I Never Said”), the 26-year-old singer can currently be heard on Slaughterhouse’s album Welcome to: Our House and the soundtrack to Tim Burton’s animated film Frankenweenie.
