Nicki Minaj reflects on her success and contemplates fame on “Freedom,” one of seven new tracks off her forthcoming album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up. Over a drum-patterned beat, the bossy Barb asserts her dominance (“My career’s been a pinkprint”), credits herself for opening doors for other females (“Man I’m birthing these artists and it’s starting to show”), and thanks her crew including Lil Wayne.

“Who I want to work with, nobody/ 99 percent of them is nobody/ Bitches actin’ like they killin’ shit, OK/ When I check these bitches guns, no bodies,” she raps on the track, which is now available on iTunes.

Due November 19, The Re-Up features collaborations with Ciara, Lil Wayne, Tyga, Cassie, and more.

Okay Nicki. Good for you delivering songs like this. I really like the chorus and the beat but the raps i don’t like. It seems like every rap song she makes she has to rap about her accomplishments. Okay we get it you’re successful. Rap about something with substance. The title of the track is Freedom she could have went so many different creative ways with that. Like i said the chorus and beat is nice but comparing yourself to jesus in the first line–no bueno. Humility is something Onika lacks.

The song is okay… I agree with a previous post, the only reason she is who she is is because all the people that let her feature on their tracks and now that there are new artist with a ton of potential around the corner she doesnt want to help them out. I may not listen to Nicki, but I do respect her for her grind because she has alot going for her, but as far as her “opening doors” and “rebirthing female rap” I don’t agree with.

What female rappers has Nicki “opened doors” for? Azealia Banks has been on her grind since 2009, Kreayshawn was shooting videos for other artist before she became a rapper, Lola Monroe was releasing mixtapes in 2009, and Iggy Azalea was uploading freestyle videos on “Youtube” as well. So 99% of those female rappers were on the grind before Nicki even really blew up, and from the looks of it, they don’t look influenced by her ONE BIT.

And as far as her “rebirthing” female rap, I don’t agree with either. Trina came out with 2 albums in 2008-2010, Lil Mama had 2 top 10 singles on billboard in 2007-2008 as well as an album, Missy Elliott had 2 singles (Ching-A-Ling & Shake Your Pom Pom) in 2008, Lil Kim had the single “Download” in 2009, and not to mention Eve had “Tambourine” in 2007, so female rap was in rotation before Nicki came into the game. I think people just got excited when Nicki came into the game because she was “new”, she had YMCMB backing her, she was pretty, and she was on EVERYBODY’S songs. But I do give her credit because she does have alot of success.

I used to be a Nicki fan…not so much now. I don’t hate her or anything (life is too short to spend time hating people you don’t even know :I). I just said that to say this reminds me of Pink Friday. I loved that album so much when it came out. And Roman Reloaded sucked imo. So it’s a shame this nice song is going to be on the re-up of an album that was a disappointment to many. I don’t think adding new songs will make it any better…but this song is still good – although the comparison to Jesus was reaching too far :/

Also (I don’t even see my 1st comment so who knows if it showed up but whatever): I wish this was a single from a 3rd album. This song would’ve given me hope for a great new album from Nicki, if it weren’t from a re-up of an album that really wasn’t anything special.
