Nicki Minaj reflects on her success and contemplates fame on “Freedom,” one of seven new tracks off her forthcoming album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up. Over a drum-patterned beat, the bossy Barb asserts her dominance (“My career’s been a pinkprint”), credits herself for opening doors for other females (“Man I’m birthing these artists and it’s starting to show”), and thanks her crew including Lil Wayne.
“Who I want to work with, nobody/ 99 percent of them is nobody/ Bitches actin’ like they killin’ shit, OK/ When I check these bitches guns, no bodies,” she raps on the track, which is now available on iTunes.
Due November 19, The Re-Up features collaborations with Ciara, Lil Wayne, Tyga, Cassie, and more.

@Everybody Above, She started of being features. And She only lucked up because she screwed Wayne. There are a lot of Female rappers that will musically eat her alive. they don’t have the popularity as her because they aren’t connected with anybody as big as Wayne or they don’t want to go Generic-Pop. Maybe thats why she doesn’t want to collab with these female rappers. Because she will be outshined.

3. Azealia now is different…lyrically she is dope…however she will not slaughter Nicki…although I love almost all her songs she has a bad habit of not being direct…a lot of her songs you can’t even pick up half of what she says…esp the newer songs

Okay Nicki. Good for you delivering songs like this. I really like the chorus and the beat but the raps i don’t like. It seems like every rap song she makes she has to rap about her accomplishments. Okay we get it you’re successful. Rap about something with substance. The title of the track is Freedom she could have went so many different creative ways with that. Like i said the chorus and beat is nice but comparing yourself to jesus in the first line–no bueno. Humility is something Onika lacks.

“Would never thank me for opening doors, but they ain’t even thank Jesus when he died on the cross.” I DON’T CARE HOW YOU WANT TO PUT IT; Nicki opened these doors for female rappers to want to come back in the damn game.Just like people didn’t see the greatness in Jesus dying in the cross, these bitches don’t see the greatness in Nicki opening doors for them.
“Did I really body bitches with commercial songs?” She knew she was making crazy ass songs. She just wanted to prove that she would still be popular as fuck with them anyway. This song shows her true potential.
“Who I wanna work with? Nobody. 99% of them is nobody.” She’s talking about female rappers. And no matter how you want to put it, she’s the only female rapper right now that is KILLING it.
#KilledIt Verses:
“Would never thank me for opening doors, but they ain’t even thank Jesus when he died on the cross.”
“Why these niggas going broke to get your approval? Pretty soon they’ll be back up on them Roman Noodles”
“If you are my rival than that means you’re suicidal.”
Whoever is singing at the end made the song so deep. Nicki KNOWS what she’s doing. YES KEEP DOING YOUR THING NICKI.

At the start of his career, Eminem couldn’t get a break because he was white – but he’s still extremely talented. Lending someone a helping hand won’t kill her.

@Peaches, Latifah aint on mogul level tho. Don’t get that confused. She’s well accomplished and a path carver for female rappers but not many people look up to her in such a way where she’s getting extreme notice. WHo do you know who rocks signature latifah perfume, clothes, etc? Not many I can bet. Latifah’s following is wide, but not strong enough to be a mogul

@Peaches, Queen Latifah KNOWS her role in the game is long gone and never coming back. Call those accomplishments if you want but it will NEVER change the fact that she canNOT act. Check out all her tired ass roles. Always the do-gooder, never breaks out of that comfort zone. Living Single (Weakest character-no depth WHATsoever), Just Wright (reluctant or “humble” HOmewrecker, still a weak character), That Christmas Movie where she thinks she’s going to die (Has everyone shove her through great experiences because she’s too modest). Bitch please!! I like living single and the christmas movie but her acting is SO one-dimensional.

@AllAmerykhanBoy, Yet she just dissed all those individuals although they have gave her props. I could understand the hater diss but Kim had ever reason to be mad. Nicki played everyone with her act. Keys, she should’ve been let that go. Bambi? The fuck is that? Lol. Missy? As y’all said, would’ve worked with her. Azealia, turned her down to start HER career. Iggy, would’ve worked with her. Trina, worked with her. Eve, would’ve. I mean Nicki’s the one thinking about herself and not noticing. Don’t call other individuals ungrateful if that’s who you are as well. Positivity and humbleness goes a long way. This song was touching but let’s not go there. This track was a diss. Yes, she defended herself and she can but c’mon. Don’t brag about your accomplishments, 24/7, because God will snatch everything in a minute. If other female rappers wanted a perfume, it could’ve been done. That was a decision Nicki made. So I don’t understand why that’s suppose to knock another down.

The thing I hate about Nicki is that she NEVER does collabs with OTHER Female Rappers, she did a song with Trina like 3 years ago… I feel like Nicki is scared to compete with another female rapper because she know that her lyrics will sound like nonsence compared to theirs, it’s not like she has to collab with them, but
it would show that she’s at least trying to form some type of unity within the female rap community instead of her naming her accomplishments, bragging, and name dropping all the time. All she talk’s about is other female rappers not doing anything, but HOW can they do anything when YOUR on radion 24/7 DISCOURAGING them everyday to not try to get in the GAME. tHATS Why the men in rap get along better, they dont care about being the BEST OUT they just do it to show support for their hip-hop community, and she doesnt even do collaborations with other POP artist either.
Nicki is just really insecure……..

@wassup, Lol. There’s a difference between being a hater and being opinionated. Jay-Z and Kanye West are not the best artist in the rap game. Lets not. That was a big accomplishment though. Nicki’s single hasn’t even made it to Billboard yet. Billboard and album sales don’t keep you relevant. It’s the music and heart. People didn’t just love MJ for music and chart positions. Notice how Lil Kim has NO label, NO album, and NO chart position but she’s still selling out shows (regardless to her being in venues); she’s still bringing people out for her OLD music. That’s an icon. That’s someone who can come off as legendary. If she was to die, EVERYONE would be crushed because she made an huge impact on everyone. Azealia is working with Kanye and Lady Gaga and her album isn’t even finished yet. Do you really want to knock her down? Look at yourselves. Give others their props when due. Azealia is doing her thing. MAC, LA, KW, tour, album, face on magazines.

Men are equally as BAD! [Tupac shooting, 50 cent] But I do see now- Eve, Missy, Kim, Foxy ALL want to come back NOW!

So when Missy lost her record title, she has every right to win it back. Kim had to deal with the fact Nicki was trying to sweep her off the map. Hadn’t Nicki went in positive, she wouldn’t have to go through this. Another thing, her rapping didn’t get her noticed. She used a fake image. Sex, sex, and more sex. What made her relevant? That Kim pic. After that and the fake image, people cared. Don’t front. Nicki sold her soul for fame. It’s ridiculous. I agree with the record label thing.

@JFREEDOM, Interscope is a major label, they have always had “female” acts.
And having a “female rapper” in your crew is common in the music industry.
Junior Mafia had “Lil Kim”, Ruff Ryders had “Eve”, Jay-Z had “Foxy Brown” then he had “Amil”, Murder Inc had “Charli Baltimore” and “Vita”, Slip-N-Slide had “Trina”. So…..

Honestly, Nicki’s music has been so wack lately, that people will praise anything that doesn’t sound pop. But this record is nothing but her recycled sound from her mixtape days, i.e., does anybody hear me.
This record sounds more rap than what she’s been putting out, but it’s not a classic. It gets tired after a couple of listens.

Talking crap about everyone else in the game is how hip hop works. That’s what everyone raps about. There are also some heartfelt songs but every single rapper out there has songs about how they’re the best. Just because she’s a female, now people are saying that she shouldn’t talk like this. Look at kanye calling himself the god of rap and jay z, Rick Ross, drake, etc, do the same thing . You people need to look at it from the perspective of a male rapper cause she’s not the one to blame for there not being any other female rappers out there.

Lot of times people ask me am I going at somebody in particular and I be like no because when I write especially when I’m speaking facts everyone who ever negatively affect me comes to mind and I just write in general to that. So if anyone who hears a diss track and try to make it personal there must have been some truth to it.

I may not listen to Nicki, but I do respect her for her grind because she has alot going for her, but as far as her “opening doors” and “rebirthing female rap” I don’t agree with.
What female rappers has Nicki “opened doors” for? Azealia Banks has been on her grind since 2009, Kreayshawn was shooting videos for other artist before she became a rapper, Lola Monroe was releasing mixtapes in 2009, and Iggy Azalea was uploading freestyle videos on “Youtube” as well. So 99% of those female rappers were on the grind before Nicki even really blew up, and from the looks of it, they don’t look influenced by her ONE BIT.
And as far as her “rebirthing” female rap, I don’t agree with either. Trina came out with 2 albums in 2008-2010, Lil Mama had 2 top 10 singles on billboard in 2007-2008 as well as an album, Missy Elliott had 2 singles (Ching-A-Ling & Shake Your Pom Pom) in 2008, Lil Kim had the single “Download” in 2009, and not to mention Eve had “Tambourine” in 2007, so female rap was in rotation before Nicki came into the game. I think people just got excited when Nicki came into the game because she was “new”, she had YMCMB backing her, she was pretty, and she was on EVERYBODY’S songs. But I do give her credit because she does have alot of success.

You say it’s not about female rappers being out or not, but you all make it seem like there were no female rappers at all until Nicki came along.
Every artist that I named that hasn’t released a album yet, is in the same part of their career that Nicki was in before her album cameout.

@comeATmEbRO, it’s about the number of female rappers that got attention from the business, of course there were others but they weren’t that successful so record labels were not open to signing many of them. Nicki minaj career gave record labels hope that female rappers could reach that level of success.

@Gggrrriiisss, The only female rappers that got attention after Nicki were Azealia, Iggy, and Kreayshawn.
Name some female rappers that were before Nicki that wasn’t successful? The past female emc’s already proved that female rappers could reach a good level of success.
If record labels were not open to sign female rappers then why did Nicki get signed?

Let’s not forget how she disrespected all of the female rappers that came before her & paved the way, mainly Kimberly Denise Jones. The same female rapper that she “copied & emulated” off of & then turned around & disrespected her to the fullest. Who does that?
Nicki wants to feel important to the female hip hop foundation, but in reality she doesn’t deserve a damn thing, but KARMA.

So put all your biased thoughts to the side and go do your Nicki homework which includes interviews and what other artist have said about her and you’ll see why she is who she is and do what she do and if you don’t want to do your homework because you’re biased then you have no right to speak on behalf of Nicki Minaj so what are you going to argue? But we have not seen or heard a new female rapper to come out and be as successful as Nicki Minaj in a very long time. The last female rapper to drop an album before Nicki was trina in mid 2010 6 months before Nicki’s debut dropped and she didn’t even go gold; barely sold 300k. 2 Years later Nicki sold approximately 25M records WW and making Millions. Now more females are going to be taken seriously b/c of NM

I loved that album so much when it came out. And Roman Reloaded sucked imo. So it’s a shame this nice song is going to be on the re-up of an album that was a disappointment to many.
