Will the real Nicki Minaj please stand up? The queen of the Barbz, Nicki Minaj, gives the world a glimpse at the superstar behind the wigs, makeup, personalities, and hit records on “Nicki Minaj: My Truth,” her three-part reality series for E!

On the premiere episode, the hip-hop diva takes cameras along as she records her new album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up, rehearses for her arena tour, and prepares for her first day on the job at “American Idol.”

In addition to showing who’s the boss, the business-minded femcee launches her first fragrance at Macy’s, confronts Perez Hilton about spreading rumors, and shoots the video for “The Boys.” Viewers are introduced to her crew including right-hand man Safaree and get a peek at her lavish mansion in Malibu.

This is Nicki like you’ve never seen her before. Watch the first full episode below.

Queen Latifah already made that milestone of the being the 1st female rapper from New York to have a perfume line and you are the beneficiary of that.

@Justine, That is correct. There have been a lot black people before her – even women. Looking at Hip Hop only we got Queen Latifah, Sean Combs, Nelly & Jay-Z. Noticed that comment too and just wondered why she feels the need to do everything “first” as a black female hip hop artist?

Her fragrance sample should arrive at my desk this week, I’m curious to see how it smells like since I review celebrity fragrances a lot.

@NeutralPerson, Well, I’ve smelled it at the perfume counter and please be honest in your critique. Most industry folks are afraid of Nicki so they lie about her music and performances. To me, the fragrance smells like bubblegum and has no womanly affect. The fragrance is definitely for the KIDS.

GaGa is four years younger than Nicki but her fragrance is for WOMEN.

So seriously and honestly… after watching this, I don’t know why people are so concerned about her every move. Because if you cut it down to the basics, she is a major star for the current time (don’t know her future – as nobody does) that deals with the same “issues” that every major star deals with. As a person in the spotlight there is no other way than to go through this whole machinery as presented in this series. It’s ok for me to see how her work schedule looks like, but don’t see the need to make such a big deal out of it.

This is my subjective point of view, I just don’t see or feel the “essence” of Nicki Minaj – I don’t “connect” with her. Maybe it’s because I think stars shouldn’t feel the need to show the world who they really are because they can’t show it to the world all their life and most importantly don’t need to anyway.

I know she’s trying to be different, but do you really want young people to look at her and think, “Well, shit I need what she’s wearing” or “Damn, I need to make my skin lighter somehow so I can look like Nicki”.
