Video: Kelly Rowland f/ Lil Wayne – ‘ICE’

Kelly Rowland melts hearts in her sexiest video yet for “ICE.” The R&B siren flaunts her bangin’ body as she gets intimate with her hunky male co-stars at an old ice factory in the sizzling visuals. While he’s featured on the song, her “Motivation” collaborator Lil Wayne does not make an appearance.

“It’s a very, very sexy video,” said director Matthew Rolston, while Kelly added, “The sensuality of ‘ICE’ is completely pronounced in this video from it being so cold that it’s hot to so hot that it’s cold.”

“ICE” is the first single off Kelly’s fourth solo album Year of the Woman, due next year. Get chills by watching the Destiny’s Child diva in action.

And please STOP the lies, Dawn started working on the “Armor On” ep AFTER Diddy told her she would have to wait a year or two to release a solo project. Diddy-Dirty Money released their album in 2010 and a mixtape in 2011, and broke up in 2012. + they had shows etc.. So how in the hell did she have time to do a “Photoshoot” for a album she wouldn’t have been able to release until YEARS from now?

And Janelle monae? ARE YOU SERIOUS? Her last album came out in 2010, she looks, sounds, and acts NOTHING like Kelis.

The choreo, and Kelly’s pretty face were the highlights but… there is a but…. for some odd reason after Wayne’s verse it felt like the video should’ve ended or the treatment should’ve changed. You know what… I just realized she had two choreo breakdowns. I don’t like putting people in a box when it comes to doing art but having two dance break downs messed with my head. Because we are so conditioned to those breakdowns being the climax having one, a featured verse and then another confused me. All in all… good but still not what she needs to be respected as a lead among her peers. Gotta step it up b/c society is making it tough for the dark skin ladies. Brandy is going hard mane…. Oh and the ice house theme should have been a hell no! Too much like Motivation. Gotta be fresh while maintaining some old.

Ok I have several opinions on this video and Kelly’s career as a whole but first: All of you commenting with the comparisons and all the hateful comments, take several seats. There’s a way to be classy not trashy. You can get your point across without being so hateful. Especially when none of you have ever spent a day with Kelly. You don’t go shopping. You don’t text or talk on the phone. You don’t Skype. So how you could talk about someone you don’t even know is beyond me. I know haters will be haters, always, but if she WASN’T relevant, you wouldn’t know her name enough to speak it.

Cons: She needs new a new management team. This single is I-C-E cold. It’s been out for months now (August 24th). It peaked at 25 on the Hip/Hop R&B charts but now it isn’t even in the top 50 and the video just came out? If I was her manager/label I would have scrapped ICE (which sounds like a “Motivation” spin-off) and release a new single completely. After “Ice” failed to perform, I would release a single and send her into massive radio and television interviews and performances. The problem, I see with “Ice” is it sounds like a track from her last album instead of something new and fresh. We want something we can hear on the radio and be like “Damn, who is that? Kelly!?!” She’s got urban/pop appeal and she’s got to use it if she wants to remain.

Now the Pro’s: We all know she’s talented. We all know she can turn out hits (Like This, Motivation, Lay It On Me). She’s absolutely stunning to look at.She’s got a great voice (minus that tragic BET AWARDS performance of “Like This”). The song would have been great as a third single to the last album. Her albums all have had great material all them, and not just the songs you hear on radio. She has the potential to be played on Urban stations, Pop station and even AC (Adult Contemporary) radio outlets.

Kelly please get a team behind you that knows what they’re doing. I mean your team even sent you to an awards show in a tacky lace-front and had you performing at a party in an outfit that was too big and made your boobs fall out. If that didn’t raise questions marks then what will? You’re wasting valuable money on people who obviously care more about their pockets than yours. Hire a team who knows how to pick a single, who knows how to market you, who can get you doing a few promos, get you on radio and television. And above all re-invent yourself. Don’t get of Motivation 2.0…we want to see what we know you are capable of. We’re rooting for you Kelly, please deliver!
