R&B newcomer August Alsina puts a whole new spin on Juicy J’s hit “Bandz a Make Her Dance.” The 20-year-old New Orleans native, who is signed to The-Dream’s Radio Killa Records via Def Jam, breathes new life into the strip club anthem with his acoustic rendition, while a stripper works the pole in the accompanying video. August is currently in the studio working on his mixtape and debut album. Get to clapping for this rising star.
interesting, my only critique is that while the occupation of being a stripper is no longer taboo(get that money) it would have been nice to explore stripping as a means to end and focus on her more traditional genre of dance as her true aspiration. but alas only my opinion. i like the rendition though
Ummm like I’m not trying to be cruel or anything but all these dudes in the industry sing an rap about the same thing and all look like they came off of the same retarded fake standard of beauty family tree. I swear hard working vocalists on’t make it anymore and no one can relate to throwing money at strippers all day because hardly any of us are doing it. As a vocalist myself I’m tired of this industries standards smh!!!
@Awfulvoices, agreed….as a fellow vocalist, there’s no versatility anymore…it’s unfortunate that our young black boys have to make these songs to prove their masculinity to society….so male r&b singers almost have to be ‘hood’ now. this is the new age r&b and frankly it sucks!! Other than that, he has a great voice! everything is so raunchy now tho, its getting annoying! where are the innuendos or mystery…
@Roger, Thankfully you share my point of view as a fellow vocalist. I can agree that he has a nice voice but imagine how much more power it would have if he were singing about a subject matter that people were able to relate to and something of relevance. Music used to have messages of real love, political views, societal debates etc. There is so much suffering in the world, there is so many stories that could be told about the hood other then violence and sex and more male vocalists like yourself and me need to step up and share these kinds of messages. If everyone continues to follow this trend of sex and drugs the music for future generations and even this very generation will not be able to tell the stories that music once told.
