Rap-Up.com || Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj Win Big at AMAs

Justin Bieber was the big winner at the 40th anniversary American Music Awards on Sunday. Not only did the teen idol share the stage with Nicki Minaj, he also went home with three awards including Artist of the Year. He brought up his mother and thanked Usher during his acceptance speech.

His “Beauty and a Beat” collaborator Nicki scored two trophies including Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album for Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.

She dedicated the awards to her Barbz. “I love you so much, you are so passionate and so inspiring,” said a grateful Nicki. “Thank you so much for voting your little tiny fingers off. I could just eat you and kiss you and love you and hug you.”

Other winners included Beyoncé (Favorite Soul/R&B Female Artist), Rihanna (Favorite Soul/R&B Album), and Usher (Favorite Soul/R&B Male Artist). See the full list of winners below.

This award show is a joke though. I’m not gonna say people like Nicki didn’t deserve awards souly because the show was based on votes. But 3 nominees in each section? i always thought they needed 5. Because there are some people more deserving of awards in there sections.
Where is Frank Ocean, Miguel, and Elle Varner in the r&b sections. Where is Odd Future, Childish Gambino, and Kanye in the Hip-Hop sections. More people deserved Nominations

This just proves how low the music industry has gotten.. there are a lot more artists that deserved to win that are trying to improve this damaged industry.. its a shame that it has gotten to the point where we only care about how many records the artist has sold and forgotten about the meaning about songs and the stories they have told.

All I can say is well done to Beyoncé & Usher. I ain’t made that Nicki won cause the Hip Hop tracks on Roman Roloaded were ok but the albumn as a whole ain’t Hip Hop. Rihanna winning anything is a joke let alone an award for best Soul/R&B album and for that garbage too. Sheesh.

The biggest joke of the night was One Direction & J. Cole losing to Carly Rae Jepsen.

Can’t even hate on Bieber. I’ve listened to that album and it encompasses a lot of genres.

The 2012 American Music Awards was very terrible, and very horrible, it represented everything that is wrong with the music industry today. Congratulations to Nicki Minaj for winning Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Album of The Year, and Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Artist of The Year, but I felt like she didn’t deserve to win those awards this year. I believe Drake’s Take Care album, Nas’Life Is Good album, GOOD Music-Cruel Summer, Lupe Fiasco’s Food and Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album Part 1, Rick Ross’God Forgives I Don’t album, and Common’s The Dreamer/The Believer album were all better albums than Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded album. I find it very terrible that Frank Ocean, Miguel, and Elle Varner didn’t win any of those R&B awards over Rihanna. Everybody who truly understands music will tell you that Rihanna is a mainstream pop artist, not an R&B artist. There should be three rap album catergories at the American Music Awards for now on starting next year. There should be Best Rap Album, Best Mainstream Rap Album, and Best Alternative Rap Album. That way, the winners would seem more credible and more real compare to this year’s winners.
