Rap-Up.com || Alicia Keys Scores Fifth No. 1 Album with ‘Girl on Fire’

Alicia Keys is setting the charts ablaze once again. The Grammy-winning singer lands her fifth No. 1 album this week with Girl on Fire.

Led by the Nicki Minaj-assisted title track, Keys’ latest project enters atop the Billboard 200 with 159,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Her first four albums (three studio sets and an Unplugged release) all went to No. 1.

Girl on Fire marks the lowest first-week of any album from Keys including 2005’s Unplugged set (196,000). Her previous album, 2009’s The Element of Freedom, opened at No. 2 with 417,000.

Keys is the only debut in the top 20 this week. Last week’s chart-topper Rihanna slides 1-6 with her seventh album Unapologetic (77,000).

@bobs, compare total record sales back in the times she released her other albums. I mean for the entire year.

And compare them to now. Total album sales are much MUCH lower now than they were then.

People need to have more perspective.

Good for her! Even though the sales are low for her I think she’ll push this album for all it’s worth; and I mean that in a good way. She seems really passionate about this project so I am hoping the albums chart life will be lengthy if she keeps promoting it. I personally think this is one of her best albums. The songs are simple and well-written.
