Sneak Peek: Alicia Keys – ‘Brand New Me’

Alicia Keys

After giving her declaration (“Girl on Fire”), Alicia Keys shares her autobiography with “Brand New Me,” the second single from her chart-topping album Girl on Fire. The R&B songstress reveals two photos from the video along with a 10-second teaser (blink and you’ll miss it).

“‘Brand New Me’ is about the journey it takes to get to a place where you are proud to be a new you,” Alicia told The BoomBox of the introspective ballad, which she co-wrote with Emeli Sandé. “There is nothing wrong with growing. There may be people in your life that knew you for a long time and they think of you only as the person you used to be and not the person you now are. And this song is a conversation introducing them to the new you, where nothing can hold you back and no one can hold you down.”

The Diane Martel-directed clip will premiere on “106 & Park” on Monday, December 17. Get a sneak peek below.

She needs to realise “that’s when I new” as a single

The old her-true to R&B/soul = Two (maybe three) DIAMOND albums, record-setting Grammys, every single in the Top 5 on the charts.
The new her-thinking electro-trash is “growth” = Worst debut yet (159,000 copies?!), NO top 10 hits, likely no Grammy nominations either.

Dear old AK, please call back.

@Shutterbug, You definitely got it wrong. This is one of her best albums, but all of them are great so I guess you could say it’s right up there with the rest of them. “Girl on Gire” has already reached, I believe no. 2 on the R&B charts and the album debuted at no. 1. So it’s clear you don’t have a clue. This next release is so beautiful and many of the other songs are also. Don’t count her out on the Grammy’s so soon. Love Alicia and her music. She is the best.

@Hov, I love her short hair, especially on the show in New York last night to help the people effected by Sandy. The highlights in her hair were beautiful.
