Nicki Minaj has been making headlines for her feud with fellow “American Idol” judge Mariah Carey. But she shows the real reason she signed up for the talent competition in a new promo. The “Starships” rapper shares her passion for discovering new talent and explains her rise from the underground mixtape scene to becoming a worldwide superstar.

“I’ve been told no a billion times and I think it’s very important you have someone that knows what it’s like to be disappointed and have to try again, and that’s a big part of the audition process,” said Nicki.

Also get a sneak peek at the outspoken judge’s many wardrobe changes, hats, and hairstyles.

The new season of “Idol” kicks off January 16 on Fox.

Y’all need to understand that karma is brought back by haters and other things. Nicki talked mad trash about everyone. Here she is today, getting karma back. She just said the contestants can take stuff as constructive criticism; why can’t she take her own advice? Most of the people writing comments are telling the truth. Fans don’t understand that. Nicki acts like someone owes her something. Good artist happen to do something big and she happens to be the only one taking it to the head. Do you see Beyonce? Queen Latifah? They’re more successful than her and never do they get to the point where they feel the need to crash someone down because of a hit, money, or endorsement. REGARDLESS to success, you thank God and wish for the best for others, NOT get cocky. Drake dissed Kim at the Hot97 show and it was all good on behalf of Nicki. When Hot97 dissed Nicki, it was “How are you a man dissing a woman (or something like that).” Really? I give Nicki her props on her success but let’s not forget that she was the only person doing what she had to do (whether it was to be fake or use sexual acts or language for attention) to get done. Janelle Monae (or however you pronounce her name) is a true role model. She made CoverGirl without having to push her breast or butt out. We need more of that. Nicki is Nicki though. I can’t stop that. Giving constructive criticism is good. Hating? Never. Kissing ass? As you can see I’m not about that. I’m sliding over to underrated female artist. Nicki is overrated.

I’ve noticed something this week. There has been post about Meek Mill, T.I, Alicia Keys, Kelly Rowland, Ciara etc but they have less than 15 comments on them. And when you read the comments it’s mostly just fans. I only checked Alicia Keys and the VH1 Divas post other than that I don’t check no one elses stuff and hate on them why because I don’t really care about them. There’s something else that needs to be addressed.
People are saying she’s not humble, and she’s always bigs herself up to put others down. When she came into the game and till now she always showed love and gave shout outs to everyone. Even now when mentioning everyone she has worked with she thanks them for giving her an opportunity to work with them. But then you guys say she’s not humble and always bigs herself up… She doesn’t do it on purpose. Do you know how much hate that these people done said about her? C’mon now, if people always talk about how bad you are, how you’re not doing nothing right, this that and the third wouldn’t you want to step your voice up and say “No you’re wrong, i’ve done this, look at my accomplishments” It’s like everyone got something to say about her but when she says something back everyone is like oh she’s a b*tc# etc etc. It’s nerve wracking. I understand her pain because I go through it and everyone who actually get up and do something with their lives and make moves all go through it.
