Rap-Up.com || Beyoncé Demands a Plan to End Gun Violence

In the wake of the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., Beyoncé and other stars band together to demand a plan to end gun violence.

The black-and-white clip, which features some of Hollywood’s most famous faces including Jamie Foxx, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Jennifer Aniston, is sponsored by Demand a Plan, a campaign of mayors against illegal guns.

“Demand a plan…for the children of Sandy Hook,” says Bey in the powerful visuals.

I applaud this effort. But at the same time, we can’t demand a plan to end gun violence while simultaneously promoting it in our movies and music. If we’re going to demand a plan, it has to be all-inclusive. Not just in the realm of politics, but in the realm of media, arts, and education.

@Realistically, the problem is not our movies, music, etc, the problem is the easy access to guns. Countries like Japan and Australia watch the same movies we watch and listen to similar music. The main difference is the stricter guns laws in those countries. Since 1997 there have been over 32,000 deaths in the US from firearms, in Japan that number is only 22.

I like the effort of this BUT where is a frigin rapper like Wayne or T.I. or 50 or Jay or Em who have a very powerful voice to the people and youth of America. Why didn’t one of them step up? @YMCMINAJ, At the very least they’ll be speaking to the young Black and Latin kids who end up in a life of crime. Ignoring the mass shootings, America still has a high rate of gun violence.

obviously it’s gonna take more than a few celebrities speaking about ending gun violence to deal with mass murderers and serial killers, but at the very least, it’s a decent attempt to help reduce the crimes committed every other day

Love Bey and really appreciate the effort, but it’s quite sad that it oftentimes takes celeb initiative to get people to listen up. Gun enthusiasts won’t be satisfied until someone they love becomes a victim.

obviously we all know that it’s gonna take more than abolishing guns to end gun violence. The problem is that no one cares enough, is too stupid to realize, or BOTH that it takes EVERYONE to come to a middle ground where we can reduce these crimes by a high level without creating an end all/be all situation.

obviously any idiot will know that banning guns period isn’t gonna stop dangerous criminals from obtaining them illegally (we seriously have A LOT of illegal shit that happens here). And the same idiot will know that arming MORE people with a firearm is like cutting the time down on a tacking bomb to make it explode sooner. considering the level of violence in this country today and how some people just commit assault or murder without a gun when they get pissed off, would you REALLY wanna arm more people with a gun??

we need to understand these and make a rational conclusion that doesn’t violate the bill of rights but at the same time reinforces efforts to reduce crime in the U.S.

When celebs like Beyonce give up their armed security guards, I’ll start taking them more seriously when they demand gun bans. Besides, last time I checked, JayZ was profiting quite well from the sale of violent rap lyrics and i’m sure he owns quite a few guns himself. Stop the hypocrisy.

It is true that having guns at anyone’s reach in this country is bad but also having all the media brainwashing us and making it seem like it is the cool thing to carry a gun around and to be all of that and threaten people. Just the clip is not enough. Stop making violent movies refuse them. And Beyonce please you are saying it’s enough about guns but you are supporting Pepsi and supporting the number one drink with high sugar that is killing people too. 50 Mil in your pocket is not going to keep all those people from getting diabetes or high blood pressure.
