Rihanna Donates $1.75 Million in Equipment to Barbados Hospital

Rihanna is giving back to her community. The “Diamonds” singer has donated three pieces of equipment worth more than $1.75 million to Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in her native Barbados.

She made the donations under the Clara Lionel Foundation named after her grandparents, Clara and Lionel Brathwaite.

RiRi herself was on hand to make the presentation outside the radiotherapy building, which was renamed the Clara Braithwaite Centre for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine.

“This was my way of giving back to Barbados, in a form of philanthropy, by assisting the QEH in its continued modernization program,” she told E! News. “I believe that this will have a huge impact on the people of Barbados. This was all done to save lives or at least extend them.”

Rihanna had a close relationship with her grandmother, whom she affectionately called Gran Gran Dolly. After she passed away over the summer, she remembered her by getting a tattoo of the Egyptian goddess Isis across her chest.

Yess. She is a true Princess. Love her.

    navi Reply:

@Aimanos, QUEEN, Queen OF Egypt to be precise. She’s Cleopatra’s God Daughter.

That is 3 more people at a time that can receive free radiology treatment. That mean 36 more treatments can be done daily which is 36 x3. The hospital is gives free and cheap cancer treatments and have been having to prioritize treatments. This equipment will mean some people with no hope of being treated due to a lack of funds and availability of equipment. Barbados gives free health care to all it citizens but it is always a challenge to keep on the cutting edge of technology.
