Rap-Up.com || New Music: Azealia Banks

Azealia Banks made lots of noise in 2012, and she doesn’t plan on going anywhere. The Harlem rap diva kicks off the new year with “BBD (Bad Bitches Do It),” co-produced by Apple Juice Kid and Sup Doodle. She reps for her bad bitches and shouts out Bell Biv DeVoe member Michael Bivins on the street chic banger (click here for the lyrics).

The song will not appear on her upcoming Interscope Records debut Broke With Expensive Taste. According to Azealia, the first official single will be “Miss Amor.” It will also feature the B-side “Miss Camaraderie.”

Ring in your 2013 with some new Banks.

I understand why Nicki is constantly brought up when it comes to new femcees (no matter how ridiculous and irritating it is…because before Nicki female rap had been kind of quiet for a while…but why are people bringing up Lola? In any event it sounds like a typical Azealia song to me. At this point they’re all starting to sound the same (save for L8r, 212 and Jumanji). Still waiting for her to wow me…and I’m wondering if the 1st single she releases from her debut album will be capable of that.

I see what you mean with some of her straight up Rap Songs, But I feel that she has really attempted to expand into other genres and other areas of music and art that she enjoys. I’m not saying that she isn’t a rapper anymore (like she likes to say sometimes… which is whatever) but there are a lot of songs of Fantasea that are really diverse. My advice, Check out the title track Fantasea, its totally different yet still something that a hip-hop audience can appreciate

Azealia has a deal with MAC, a Dre commercial, some model deal, her EP made best ALBUMS of 2012, collabs with GaGa/Kanye (on the way), and she hasn’t even released her debut album yet. Come again?
