It’s a good thing Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey have settled their differences because they have a long week of promotion ahead of them leading up to the January 16 premiere of “American Idol.” The dueling divas took a seat alongside fellow judges Randy Jackson and Keith Urban during the 2013 Winter TCA (Television Critics Association) Tour at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena on Tuesday.

Mariah was glowing in a short green dress, while Nicki rocked a black wig and Louboutins, fielding questions about their feud and their participation in America’s No. 1 show.

When asked how they put aside their beef, Nicki joked, “I put on my sex tape,” while Mimi had a more serious answer. “I think time sorts everything,” she said.

When asked if she would have auditioned for “Idol,” Mariah said no because she would have been “shy and unpolished.” Nicki concurred, saying that she didn’t see the show fitting for rappers. “Rap and hip-hop is completely different from ‘American Idol,’” she explained. “So I would never go on this show as a rapper.”

The judges will participate in a Livestream session with fans on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. EST.

@Trev, Simon and Ellen own record companies and Simon and Randy are both very experienced in the music business. Their positions as judges were rightfully earned. Nicki is a rapper who virtually just got in the business, and doesn’t own or have any leadership role in a successful record company…so….

@Stan4QB,An important fact you obviously over look,Nicki have her brand and she have people who bin working for her she have to sign checks,and Nicki do have a record label were she already signed two people,she bin having a leadership roll for some time now, even though she bin in the mainstream game for a short time she did alot in that time span,i just wanted to update you on that.

I don’t get it at all. Mariah lost all that weight last year and was promoting Jenny Craig all of 2012. She really took “new year, new me” to the head. Nicki on the other hand looks gorgeous. And the critics LOVED her. One question though. Why is it that Nicki is supposedly a bad judge because she’s a rapper, but Ellen judged Idol and she knows NOTHING about music? At least Nicki CAN sing. Sure, she’s no Mariah. But she’s a great singer. Half of Pink Friday Roman Reloaded is singing and pop. Anyway, I’m really excited for Idol.

@…, Yeah, she had kids but she had kids a while ago. She looked curvy and thin 2 months ago and now she’s just fat. Sure, Nicki uses silicone on her hips and bottom but her stomach, legs, chest, and arms are all her and she makes sure they are all on point.
