Fantasia is leaving the drama behind and focusing on the music in 2013. Nearly a decade after making her debut on “American Idol,” the R&B songstress has announced her fourth album.
During an interview with Steve Harvey, she revealed that the project will be titled The Side Effects of You and will arrive on March 13.
The 28-year-old singer has worked mainly with producer Harmony on the follow-up to 2010s Back to Me. “This time I just wanted to stick with one person so we could have an album that has one sound and everybody’s on the same page,” she explained.
The new music will feature a “rock-soul” sound akin to Tina Turner and James Brown. “It’s my baby ’cause I finally got to write,” said Tasia. “I just wanted so bad to do something like that and I thank the record company, RCA, for allowing me to finally be able to do that on this album.”
She felt a special connection to the first single “Lose to Win,” which was a last-minute addition. “For me, it just wasn’t about a relationship, it was about my whole career,” said Fantasia. “It’s been 10 years for me and there’s been ups, there’s been downs, there’s been people to walk away, so the message was strong for me and I just had to record it.”
