Beyoncé Sings the National Anthem at President Obama’s Inauguration

Beyoncé

Barack Obama was sworn in for his second term as President of the United States on Monday. Following the historic ceremony, Beyoncé had the honor of singing the National Anthem in front of the U.S. Capitol building.

Looking beautiful in a black Emilio Pucci gown and Lorraine Schwartz emerald jewelry, the pop superstar belted out “The Star Spangled Banner” accompanied by the U.S. Marine band. After her powerful rendition, she greeted the president and joined her husband Jay-Z in the crowd.

Watch Bey show her stars and stripes with the patriotic performance.

    Aliciasahomewrecka Reply:

@x, that budget imploded to 170M. The taxpayers are paying for it. We paid that B*tch beyonce 60M to lip sinc to a pre-recorded track. She is so FAKE and in-American.

    A'ron Reply:

@aliciasahomewrecka, Tax payers having nothing to do with inaugurations. Inaugurations are paid by campaign funds. The only thing tax payers might be paying for is the extra police that have to be on duty. Other than that it’s money that was raised during his campaign. Not to mention Beyonce has done several “endorsements” of Obama on her own, FREE of charge. I doubt she would except such an outrageous figure to perform a 2 minute song.

@sexme, Ok, I know everyone is happy about the event but don’t go messing it up by comparing her to Whitney. beyonce is not a good singer and she damn sure is no where near Whitney.

    [Reply]

    KaramelKisses Reply:

@Ursula, and here you go … still trolling w/ your loosing ass. to set the record straight, she is second to whitney vocally when performing the national anthem (google beyonce super bowl national anthem). she is a VERY good singer because like whitney & mariah, she has both vocal & tonal control unlike jennifer hudson or christina augillera who are all over the place w/ that obnoxious yelling & screams that you ignorant people are quick to call singing. but here’s the thing, whether you like bey or not i bet your nonirrelevant ass watched the inaguration and you will be watching the super bowl. you just can’t help yourself from riding bey’s dick but we ain’t mad!

She held her own in the cold and with technical difficulties. I’m proud of her and kelly for doing their best. I can only imagine how nervous they where.

People think its a sin for artists strive to be greater than the dead and those before them… and when it happens they never admit it. But you know what? Beyonce did the damn thing. I’m so tired of nostalgia bias and people acting like the dead are gods. No one is untouchable just because you’re too proud to to let the living be great.

    [Reply]

    KaramelKisses Reply:

@randy, THANK YOU! half of these black people weren’t even checking for michael jackson or whitney houston UNTIL they died. but now all of sudden they’re stanning for them … GTFOH! half of you were probably calling whitney a crackhead & now she is the patron saints of ALL singers. i like that bey has remained down to earth, valuing her family & friends despite her mega success. everyone in the industry says that she is one of the nicest people they’ve ever met. truth is, people in today’s society only build you up to tear you down ESPECIALLY black folks! most black people are crabs in a barrel trying to pull one another down.

I thought she killt it but as my Mother watched it she said “She sounded nice and everything but that wasn’t our National Anthem. That was some other song she decided she wanted to sing”. I think it’s so funny when older people get upset when the Anthem gets changed.

  27. Tasha32

OMG, she sounded absolutely AMAZING. She looked STUNNING in that dress so elegant and classy. Her rendition was both powerful, soulful and pitch perfect no complaints here folks the only thing I wish she would have done is at the end if she had kept going higher like she did in 04 when she said BRAVE but either way, both were stunning performances and will go down as such. Bring on SB now……Feb 4

This is such an historic day and I am just very blessed to be part of such history. Obama’s 2nd term swearing in, MLK day these all mark such significant moments in history. I couldn’t be more proud.
