Rap-Up.com || Jennifer Hudson Serenades Obamas at Inaugural Ball

During the 2009 inauguration, Beyoncé performed Etta James’ “At Last” as Barack and Michelle Obama took their first dance as President and First Lady. Last night, her Dreamgirls co-star Jennifer Hudson had the privilege of singing Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” as the First Couple danced at the Commander-in-Chief’s Inaugural Ball.

The President called his wife (“My better half—and my dance partner”) to the stage as the Oscar winner serenaded them with the soulful cover before they traded partners and danced with members of the military.

“Right now the President and First Lady will dance to Al Green’s ‘Let’s Stay Together,’ to be performed by… ME!!! Yes! Amazing night!” tweeted J-Hud.

The FLOTUS also tweeted about the special moment. “Just danced to ‘Let’s Stay Together’ with the love of my life and the President of the United States. I’m so proud of Barack,” she wrote.

Loved all the musical performances throughout the day except Ms. Hudson’s. As is typical, she made the song all about her! She has such an ego, and it was so evident as she added all that extra CRAP to a song that should have been sung true to it’s original form–like Beyonce did last time with Etta James’ “At Last!” These songs are classics and this time, Ms. Hudson destroyed the mood with her extra scat and screaching! Soooooo glad the camera NEVER focused on her! Thought it was also extremely rude when she was finished singing she flip-waved-off the first couple and did an about face and left the stage! She lost weight (but unbeknownced to her could still stand to lose more, if she want’s to wear a dress like that in public–it was inappropriate!) and thinks she’s all that and a bag of Pita Chips! She stood up Oprah 2 years ago, when she “had to go to a party in Texas the night before she was to be a guest” after she checked into Chicago to the do the show (weather delayed her return and held up production) … Now she wears a dress that looked WAY too revealing from what I saw and ruined Al Green’s iconic song! You don’t attempt to upstage the President! Have (or in this case GET) some class! This lil girl needs to take a big humilty pill and be ignored for quite a while…What an ego … Too bad they didn’t have a male singer that might have realized the moment belonged to the Obama’s NOT THE SINGER! At least Beyonce had the good sense to wear a classy dress and kept the tunes she has sung right on melody so they didn’t stick out obnoxiously, and the focus could be on the Obama’s. Bet Ms Hudson won’t be asked to do too many special appearances of this caliber anymore! I’d never waste the money or effort to hire her!
