Alicia Keys celebrates her 32nd birthday with a gift for her fans. The R&B songstress remixes her Girl on Fire anthem “Brand New Me” into a dance floor-ready record, which samples Crystal Waters’ 1991 hit “Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless).”
“I’ve been so overwhelmed by all of your birthday love that I HAD to do something extra special for you! Love to you!!! Big shout to Crystal Waters for your inspiration!… New Music!! B.N.M Part 2!!!!” tweeted Alicia, who will perform the National Anthem at the Super Bowl on February 3.

This is different…I love the sample. That song by Crystal Waters is classic. I kind of forgot she released “Brand New Me” as a single. That song is going nowhere:(

Oh the young and clueless, so sad for them. This woman makes classic music not fad music, you will get it one day, for now keep listening to the trash you are spoon fed, her music is timeless so when you have lived life it will be there for you to appreciate.

@Lisa, So true, but only if the clueless grow up. Alicia knows what she is doing and musically she is on top of her game. Love this remix AND the original song. She touches it and it’s gold.

Best. Alicia. Song. Ever. It’s wonderful to hear her step outside her usual arena of ballads and mid-tempo songs, which, usually have left me dis-interested. Granted, she used a sample but this sounds like a fresh kind of club-banger to me. This remix could help the song get a 2nd chance on the charts.
