Emeli Sandé Performs on ‘Today’ Show

Emeli Sandé

Emeli Sandé has already conquered the U.K. and now she plans to leave her mark on America. The Scottish singer-songwriter, who’s written for Alicia Keys and Rihanna, brought her talent across the pond to the “Today” show during her U.S. promo tour. She spoke to Matt Lauer about winning over a new audience and performed two songs off her acclaimed debut Our Version of Events.

“It’s just that real, raw excitement at the beginning when people have just found you as an artist. I love that,” said the 25-year-old Emeli, who performed at the London Olympics. “It’s a brand new challenge for me and I’m really enjoying it.”

Watch Emeli invade U.S. television with “Next to Me” and “My Kind of Love.”

@Agdaking, That’s okay. Go back to listening to your Ciara and Keyshia Cole records.

She aight. Tone reminds me of Leona Lewis a little bit. And whoever said Best New Artist is a joke? The nominees can be kind of ridiculous, but the Academy usually gets the winner right.

I love her but am I the only one who thinks it’s odd that she is doing this now when her album was released in the U.S. last June????
