Hot on the heels of her critically-acclaimed debut Goldenheart, Dawn Richard liberates “NLX,” the remix to “Northern Lights.” The all-new production, helmed by D’Mile, appears as a bonus cut on the deluxe edition of the album, available exclusively at FYE.
Unlike the upbeat original, the new version features a subdued beat, with Dawn singing about chasing love, whether it’s wrong or right.
Without backing from a major label, the independent release still managed to debut at No. 10 on Billboard’s R&B Albums chart and No. 2 on the Heatseekers chart.

@yeap, this comment is just ridiculous. Because Adele’s music all sounds the same as well that’s her sound. 19 and 21 had the same vibe babe. Real talk

@West coast lovaa, yeah, maybe you just didnt get me. I mean – Adele is a genious and despite ‘the same sound’ she is still interesting for me, and Dawn may be talented but she is boring.

“Goldenheart”….what.an.album!
I am so proud of Dawn. Independent.Tenacious.Brilliant.
The “NLX” remix speaks to the innovativeness of Dawn’s work on so many levels. The original gave us a sort of NOLA bounce lesson with a positive vibe while the remix appropriately flips the song to convey a darker, yet triumphant, emotional journey.
Imagine if the entire music industry held Dawn’s creative ethos…

@YouWillDeal, flop? Yep, you know NOTHING about Dawn.
@Iheartu, again, flop? You have the word “heart” in your name so I expect you to know better.
@Prouy of Uk 2013, Dawn has saved us from the music industry. We would’ve never gotten the brilliant “Goldenheart” if we were waiting for her to do “good” in the “music business.”
This ^^^^^^^^^^ is what Dawn’s music sonically protects us from. “Armor On” hearts. Listen to the note @ 3:04 on the “NLX” remix. This is a TRUE singer. This is why we love her.
“Goldenheart” = Brilliant
Bye.

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! As an author, I appreciate poetic symbolism, especially when it is presented with such uniqueness. I took the time to listen to all of Dawn Richard’s songs, and I am truly impressed. Most importantly, this is music that I can appreciate, because it is coming from a young lady who is humble and reachable. she seems to be comfortable in her own skin and her own lane.
Dawn Richard is a MOVEMENT, not a gimmick. She has been in the trenches of combat and played her part, without complaint. She has proven herself to be a team player, and I feel that the planet is ready for some fresh air, musically. It is amazing how she transforms her voice with each track. In essence, she deserves to be praised and supported for the quality of her work.
She is the avant-garde artist of her craft. Thank you, Dawn, for helping me fall back in love with music, again. I guess this makes me an official “heart-heaux,” a title of which I am most proud!
