Rap-Up.com || Alicia Keys Sings National Anthem at Super Bowl XLVII [Video]

Whitney. Mariah. Beyoncé. And now Alicia Keys joined an illustrious list of divas to perform the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. Looking radiant in a red gown, the 14-time Grammy winner took a seat at a silver piano and delivered the “The Star-Spangled Banner” as only she can.

Players from the Ravens and 49ers had tears in their ears as they watched the moving performance from the field at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Alicia’s performance was on fire! It was burning all the way OFFFFF! This was terrible and she was flat on three notes. She lookin like a man with the slick and now another ham in the pig shack!

Hater for sure. You made it a point to be the first to slam Ms Keys. I’ll never understand what fun people get from that. Anyway Alicia’s performance was absolutely “on fire” in a very good way. She sang beautifully and I loved her rendition. It was even touching to the players. Alicia is a one of a kind performer, no matter what you or anyone else thinks. I’d just like to suggest you enjoy whoever it is you enjoy, if that is possible that you enjoy anyone, and keep your hateful comments of others to yourself. That was one of the best and most touching performances of the National Anthem I’ve ever seen performed. Very beautiful and much appreciated.

@Sonya, I was not hating on that prune. I think she is one of the most beautiful women in the industry. However lets refocus our attention to your comment “one of the best and most touching performances of the National Anthem I’ve ever seen performed,” were we all watching the same thing? First she is a terrorist- she was sitting down during the national anthem and it did not sound good. If that was the case where was Rihanna for that matter? She could of sung “Hero!”

@Mister_Banks, Why don’t you try standing and playing the piano, in a gown, in heels, in front of millions of people, while singing? Btw, it did sound great and she is not a terrorist. Some things are a given, like sitting and playing the piano. Ms Keys was very respectful and sang her heart out. I for one appreciated it.

I’ve listened to quite a few renditions, but I have to say, Alicia’s rendition is something I’ve never heard before. What I mean by that is, I’ve never heard a rendition sound so bad by a Grammy award winning artist. Whitney was amazing, Beyonce (Super Bowl 2004) was awesome, even R. Kelly did a great job with his rendition of an up-beat step Nation Anthem. I do not want to bash Alicia Keys, but I’m just stating my opinion. When she first came out, I really enjoyed Fallin. It seems like she’s getting worse each year. I don’t know who told her screaming sounds good, but it makes her go horse and sound like nails on a chalkboard. Her Super Bowl performance was utterly terrible. There’s no range in her voice whatsoever and she obviously can’t hit high notes; hence, the screaming. She’s a great writer, but a terrible singer. As a person who has listened to Whitney, Beyonce, and Mariah for a good portion of my life, I feel that it is an insult to put Alicia Keys in the list of Divas who have sung the National Anthem. She needs a new vocal coach. Someone who will be honest and tell her “No, don’t do that. Try this instead…” and I’m sure she’ll improve. She’s beautiful and can write great songs, it’s just her vocals are not strong. That is all. Oh, and if anyone is going to try and say “have you seen her live?” The answer is yes. I have seen her live and had my ears covered after the first “this girl is on fire”…Okay. I’m finished.
