Rap-Up.com || New Music: Iggy Azalea

Days after wrapping her U.K. tour with Rita Ora, Iggy Azalea drops “Work,” the first single from her upcoming debut. The blonde rap sensation hustles hard on the twerking anthem, produced by 1stDown of FKi.

“Thanks for supporting me and im happy to have a first single about my story and not something meaningless i hope it inspires and motivates,” tweeted Iggy.

In March, she will head out on Nas’ European tour with opening act Meek Mill.

I won’t say the girl can’t rap because she can rap, she isn’t nothing extraordinary but she has something. I give the song a 6.5/10, so/so lyrics, nice beat & the song has a nice message too it. I do look forward too hearing her new stuff in the future.

I don’t understand why people here are some ignorant. If you don’t like a song, cool. No one is saying you have to like the song or be a fan of the artist, but don’t hoe their life. Just say something simple like, I don’t like it. Other people do that and it’s respectable.

When you become a successful A&R or CEO of a record label, than give all that extra bs. For now leave these artists alone and let them get there paper. Shit!

That head over heels line has been made so many times. And I see that this is something that Iggy does a lot. She just recycles what has already been said by other rappers. She puts on this accent that’s highly annoying, because it makes it hard to understand what she’s saying. Her lyrics are so mediocre, it’s not even funny. I do believe she works hard. But, for God’s sake, since when has it become so easy for an artist to put something as wack as this out as an official single and people just eat it up? I honestly believe it’s the internet. A few years ago you had to reach millions in order for people to want to invest time and money in you, now you just need a couple of thousand and you can get shit done. But a couple of thousand is nothing compared to a world of billions. Nothing personal with Iggy, but she’s not a rapper at heart and the only reason why this is getting the attention it’s getting is because of her appearance.

I am white too but will whole-heartedly agree she is only getting attention because she’s white & in the hop hop game she’s gonna stand out because of that fact – people are intrigued. She’s a gimmick – the accent she puts on in her raps makes me laugh when I hear it cuz she just sounds so ridiculous! Her raps NEVER flow right and the lyrics are always incredibly mediocre. I also appreciate how hard she works but she seriously needs to put the effort in to something else she enjoys because she is NOT cut out for it. If she wants a shot she should seriously make T.I be her ghost writer at least! Less respect but at least it would be easier on the ears.

@B-rocka, exactly, I don’t think she is trying to profit from the fact that she has an uncommon appearance for a rapper, but that’s what the people who are investing in her are doing.

She’s not completely horrible, but qualitatively her music does not add up to amount of praise she’s receiving. The producers do a lot of the work for her, by hooking her up with catchy beats. And she has enough confidence to go through with this, even when she’s not delivering. People who are interested in lyrics will notice it, though.

And I am baffled that Nas has personally picked her to tour with him. Out of all the young aspiring rappers this generation counts. Too bad.
